Best purchase so far this season! Bought more of the waterproofer spray because I ran out before finished. 10/10 recommend. Take care of your gear

After twenty years of camping with the same tent, we decided it was time for a new one. We wanted a cabin tent we could stand up in. None of the tents we looked at said that the rainfly was waterproof like the Alaskan Guide tent we were replacing. They all said water resistant. We decided on a cabin tent with full rainfly. Since we routinely camp at a lake with frequent thunderstorms, I thought it best to waterproof the rainfly. After diligent online research I purchased the Nikwax waterproofing kit. The first night camping in our new tent, the investment paid off. At around four AM we were awakened by the hardest rain I have ever experieced camping in a tent. It was a total deluge for over an hour. It flooded nearby roads. Not one drop made it through the rainfly. Test passed. I highly recommend this product.

This is nothing short of a savior. Our tent leaked even when it was brand new. We used this system (following the exact instructions) which were easy to follow and combined it with a seam sealer in the areas where needed at the seams and enjoyed and entire week of camping with a storm and no leaks. The wax is sticky so plan to throw out the rag you use to apply it. Other than that no complaints!

Great Product. Have purchased a few times

Our nice backpacking tent started to leak during a thunderstorm in the backcountry. We finally decided to reseal the DWR coating with this NikWax. My husband did one coat all over the tent and two coats on the rain fly. Attached video for the results! Crazy difference. Haven’t tested it in the field yet, but it looks promising.

3 stars based on packaging. The nozzle was broken off of on one of the bottles in my first order but Amazon quickly shipped another set. Here’s is the second attempt. This packaging is worse than the first. The bottles are loosely held together by a thin strap of plastic, but didn’t break. They did leak and are a wet mess but still functional. So, I’ll keep this set as I know the product is great. Do better Amazon.

Easy to use

Product worked well had a rainy camping trip; that said, one of the containers leaked profusely and I had to throw it away so it wouldn’t ruin all of my gear. Stinks to high heaven, I wouldn’t apply this outdoors or close to when you’ll need it. It works, but the product design was lacking and I only got the one use out of it.

Used on two tents as part of spring maintenance. Like everything, follow the instructions, but its easy to use and works well. Recently treated a rain-jacket with it and can confirm product is still repelling water after being rained on and wet-snowed on. Will buy again, will use for more gear. Product does have a slight odor to it that lingers (doesn't smell bad exactly but is a distinctive chemical-like smell) so keep that in mind if using to treat wearable gear.

Let’s face it : every tent says it’s water resistant. That’s fine until the sky decides to go full apocalypse and test your seams like they owe it money. Some tents have decent coatings. Some have weak ones. And more often than not, the floor has a different rating than the canopy. That’s where smart people start adding a second line of defense. This spray is that defense. The Nikwax Solarproof is water-based — which is a huge deal for me. I don’t want to mess with something flammable or toxic, especially when I’m sleeping in it. You just clean the tent, spray it on while it’s still damp, and then wipe the excess with a towel. (I personally go with microfiber — it spreads better and doesn’t scratch anything.) I’ve used it before on other tents. This time it’s on my main one, and I’ll be testing it during a rainy weekend up north. Can’t lie — I already feel more confident just knowing it’s coated. Anyway, if you’re the kind of camper who actually cares about keeping gear in top shape, this is a no-brainer. Also : is there a better sound than rain hitting the canopy while you’re warm inside? Five stars.

I was having issues with water getting into my tent, particularly from the rain fly. I applied the cleaning product first, then the waterproofing material. Dried very quickly, smelled like vinegar but that smell dissipated rather quickly in the outdoors. The real test occurred on my next camping trip where it rained frequently, but thanks to this product leaks are now a thing of the past. Very impressed!!

Works as described, hoping this will give my older tent a few more seasons. Rained on first trip after treating and could tell it made a difference.
