The large would have been way too long. If you still can't decide then purchase a cheap resizeable jump rope and size it to 8'6 and try it out.Keep in mind the sizing chart is a guideline, the perfect length for you will vary by preference. I did feel it was worth purchasing again and now I have a mat as well.
