It is possible to buy them separately. **Q: Does it come with receiver?** A: If it's the same package as mine, I got the receiver and the control unit. So simple to fix, even I could do it and I struggle with working the kettle. **Q: Is this thermostat boiler plus** A: Not sure about boiler plus only just has a single switched normally open and normally closed output. Operating over RF **Q: Is the temp base unit free standing or does it have to be fixed to wall** A: The thermostat communicates wirelessly to the base unit. The base unit is wired and must be attached to a wall. The thermostat unit also is intended to be fixed to a wall - it has screw holes for wall fixing. Took mins to pair up. Yes its very basic but its good value for money and works a treat. Now I also have a spare Digistat SCR for when that goes! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but... *by J***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 November 2018* This device works OK and does the job, but:1: The base unit does not fit a standard pattress wall box. When I rang them up, a (helpful) support engineer advised screwing directly to the wall (not feasible in my case) or making up a wooden surround.2: There seems to be no way to check the current temp setting. It can only be reset by turning the dial clockwise (increase) or anticlockwise (decrease) after which the new set temp is displayed, and can then be reset to any desired value. After a short delay, the unit reverts to a display of current room temp.3: The control unit is not designed either to stand up for remote viewing, or to lie flat on its back. It is intended to be screwed to the wall. There is little point in having a remote unit fixed to a wall.4: If you can understand and use the "Preset Temperature Mode" , then perhaps you have better qualifications and experience than my physics degree and post-grad mathematics qualification, and my 40 years as a chartered electrical engineer. 5: Point 4 also applies to the manufacturer's instructions in general, which are neither logically ordered nor easily understood. The supplier has included "Quick RF Commissioning Guide" which is, I imagine, an attempt to simplify the pairing of the remote and base units.
