I have no idea about DYI. But I followed the diagram this shower head came with and I screwed all the pieces together really quickly. I tested it out and no leaks. Really good shower head, it feels light, but as everyone else has said, it won't hold up on a moving stand. My stand is very sturdy, But there is just too much weight on one side, so pushes down. I will need to put up the holder it came with, but I will wait for someone who is DYI savvy to do that for me. Looks great, but I couldn't give 4 stars because the instructions are a bit confusing and I think that the extension pipes sustaining the head should be longer. Also, the wall holder looks a bit weak for the weight and the hose is too short. I actually used my previous' shower build up and just replaced the shower header.
