Hi, Does 'high gain' mean it will make my amp louder?

High Gain means the tube has a high amplification factor (the number of times the original signal is made bigger). This can translate to louder but not always. In valve circuits and amps, high gain valves tend to distort earlier than lower gain tubes so using a high gain tube will tend to decrease the clean headroom before distortion occurs but will not always result in a louder amp. Would these work in the Duok audio mini valve amp?

I would recommend contacting the manufacturer. They seem to make several small valve preamps, using a variety of valves, but I couldn't see a code to match ECC83 (12AX7), so if it was me I wouldn't buy this without checking with the manfacturer. Hopefully someone else can provide more insight. There may be a site where entering your amps serial number would provide an answer.
