I've built decks before but bought this to refresh on details before building another. Very good info on details like spans, but I don't like the way it follows the current trend of inserts that extend to another page. That makes it difficult to follow. But since i used it as a reference (rather than reading straight through) there was little inconvenience.

Not a good DYI book but more a picture book on some very nice and expensive examples. I ordered it for a patio 'lean to' roof example with pointers and tips and found none that I could use.
