solid, dependable
They do the job they're designed to do. And they seem pretty robust, although I've only put about 500 miles on them so far. I trust the brand, so I expect these will hold up well.

Shimano spd are quality
Spd is Shimano. Will last five years of hard use. Simple. EFfective. YES, for road or mountain shoe. I recommend mountain bike shoes for ease of walking.

always buy Shimano! avoid the no-name cleats!
I've had several pairs of these cleats and the Shimano brand cleats always work well, and they seem to last forever. And then I've had off-brand cleats that seemed to always loosen over time. That's the danger of buying non-Shimano pedals, I guess! Stick with Shimano cleats (it's not like they're that expensive) is my advice! (Also their pedals are good. :-)

Perfect functioning, SPD forever. I run my pedals about one click off the loosest setting, and they’re as good as I’ve ever had them. I hardly ever blow out of the pedals and I’m riding pretty rugged technical trails. Easy to install, good fit, good value.

Solid!
My M540 pedals came with a pair but I needed an extra set for my other shoes. My M540s are the first pedals I’ve clipped into and I definitely can tell a difference in my riding. They have some float but riding on both pairs of shoes it really depends on the soles. My FiveTens have much more float than my Sidi, same cleats. Still very solid feeling. Be sure not to walk with them especially on concrete.

Stabil und zuverlässig...
Passen perfekt zu meinen MTB Schuhen, die ich aber zum Graveln nutze. Einstieg ist nach jahrelanger Nutzung von SPD SL Pedalen etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Das Fahrgefühl und die Stabilität sind mindestens ebenbürtig.
