This Birdee Vietnamese Coffee Gift Set came with a 12 oz bag of Robusta coffee beans, a 12 oz coffee phin, a scoop, and a salt sample and a tiny salt spoon. It's very well thought out, great as a gift to someone who loves coffee! The coffee beans were bigger than regular Arabica beans. They smelled chocolatey to me which I loved! The holes on the coffee phin were the size of my current smaller phin, so I ground the coffee beans at medium coarse grind, right in the middle between medium (for drip coffee) and coarse (for French Press). Heated water to 200ºF and poured it over the coffee phin. It worked wonderfully with the grind size I used. The coffee together with condensed milk created a wonderful cup of strong Vietnamese coffee. I also added ice to my Vietnamese coffee. The coffee had a bold flavor and was very smooth, just like how Vietnamese coffee should be. Robusta beans gave me the buzz, I felt hyper for quite a long time. LOL! There was a ding on the coffee phin cup as well as the lower perforated plate, otherwise everything else is good. I love that they included a coffee phin in this order, made it easier for us to make Vietnamese coffee. The coffee phin is one with a top that you drop onto the coffee, not the screw on type. After scooping out the spent coffee grounds, it was very easy to clean.

I like Robusta coffee. The bag I received was pretty light tasting with very little flavor, almost like a light roast generic coffee. Perhaps I got an off batch, and pricy for a trial tasting.

This coffee (though expensive) lives up to it's price! Rich mocha notes, and just the right touch of tartness to counter balance lightly bitter notes. My chosen method of brewing is a french press - which yields a rich liquor. A traditional Vietnamese coffee dripper would also work quite well. This is absolutely stellar coffee, and I will buy again!

Fast delivery and accurate information

My favorite medium-roast single-origin Vietnamese coffee is no longer available so I tried this after wincing at the price (Robusta is expected to be cheaper than Arabica beans). I was expecting the full flavor, full body, with hints of smoke that Vietnamese coffee is great at. This medium roast leans more towards medium body with little complexity. The smokiness is not for me - it comes across as a menthol / medicinal smokiness, not like a campfire smoke. Lastly, my bag was underfilled: 15.7 ounces including the package weight before opening. I was expecting 16ounces of beans plus package weight.
