We love Yamaha YDP-184
Just a wonderful piano to have in a home. Buy one before they discontinue. Price is a no-brainer. Looks, feels, and sounds like a real piano without the headaches of tuning, plus a plugin for iPad for lessons. Amazing, absolutely amazing. Build quality is top-notch.

Great acquisition!
I stayed away from playing pianos for a couple decades and now I got back. Feeling rusty to get back on track, but this piano really eases the experience. The responsive touch of the keys is something that really stands out, together with its speakers. It makes family music moments really memorable. The sound fills up the room and make a simple play feel like a great event There are several funcions that I couldn't try and test yet, but I'm overall super satisfied with this piano. The assembly process is simple and easy to follow with just a few steps. Just a recommendation for the Yamaha team: put the screws in separate and identified bags, so it's easier for users less used to follow assembly instructions..

Nice quality instrument / repeat buyer
My grandson is so happy we both this piano model. He was in love with mine which is an older but very similar model. It is great for a learner and practice. The sound and touch can be adjusted to whatever you like. It sounds very much like an acoustic instrument to me. Headphones are a wonderful accessory for my grandson who wants to play this 24/7. Also looks pretty good in the home.

Beautifully Voiced Electric Piano
Wow!! This sweet little thing arrived on my doorstep on 29 November 2025. It was packaged in such a way that all parts were securely tucked in and protected so shipping and handling did not cause any damage to any of the components. Set up was a beeze and did not require any type of special tools to assemble. There were basically three parts that required assembly ; the bench, the music rack, and the foundation for the keyboard to rest on. The instruction manual, written in several languages, was very thorough and easy to inderstand, and included instructions along with illustrations describing all the features and functionality which proved to be very helpful. It also came with an easy / moderately easy book of classical music. Now onto the keyboard itself... You will enjoy the authentic piano feel, touch sensitivity high-quality sound, and beginner-friendly features. There are 88 Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) weighted keys that mimic an acoustic piano's touch. In addition, there is a built-in song library showcasing the various 10 different voices that include Grand Piano, Mellow Grand, Pop Grand, Strings. Vibraphone, Electric Piano, Jazz Organ, Pipe Organ, Harpsicord, Electric Piano, that can be played on full keyboard (same sound on all 88 keys), a split voice where half of the keyboard can use a selected voice, while the other half can use a different voice, and the dual functionality, where you can program the keyboard the play 2 voices at the same time. There is a keyboard "dust cover" as well. My favorite is playing Grand Piano coupled with strings. It soundS AWESOME. There a Metronome functionality which is a great compliment to this piano. You are able to record your playing, and during playback, you have the ability to play along with it, using different voices and playing a different accompaniment such as adding rolled chords, playing descents, etc. There are 3 foot pedals, just like using a regular piano, and have the same function. The piano bench, with no storage compartment, is shorter in length in comparison to that which is usually used for a regular piano, but with a bonus...THIS ONE IS PADDED!! Connectivity is as simple as attaching the power cord to the back of the Piano to the electrical outlet. Dn

Exceeded my expectations
I was anxious about this. It’s the most expensive thing I have ever bought from Amazon. Knowing it was being shipped in-state from Austin was somewhat reassuring. The dings on the outside of the box had no impact on the parts. It’s well packed, and very heavy. You need two people to lift the box (and piano). Assembly was simple. This piano more than met my expectations. It looks great, has a very nice sound, good key feel, and includes all kinds of extra features—check out the Yamaha site. Having the option of headphones is great when you have kids learning the piano. No regrets.

Great piano, easy to assemble.
My wife LOVES it. Easy to assemble, light enough for one old man to handle it. Great tone.

Solid piano good key action and sound
The keys are great. It’s much better than generic electric pianos. While nothing will feel like the real thing at this price point the movement of the keys is pretty damn close. I like the sound of the piano as well. The voices included are adequate. This is a great compact practice piano. It takes up very little space, looks great and sounds great. If had to find fault with it I would say the upper part is built like a tank but the lower part— the stand is like cardboard and cheap and doesn’t really match. The seams are not closed there are gaps, although I assembled it carefully following instructions it looks like something you would buy from target furniture department — cheap. This is perfect for a young adult, teenager who needs to have a piano for practice at home or folks living in the city in small apartments that don’t allow big pianos.

Great digital piano - recommended
To be honest, I didn’t get chances to try digital pianos of other brands - I just found a YDP-144 in nearby Guitar Center and feel it’s good. Then I ordered YDP-165 from Amazon thinking it won’t be wrong to get one even better. Having Yamaha YDP for half month so far I’d say it’s a good decision to buy YDP-165. Pros: The keyboard and sound of YDP-165 is truly like a real acoustic piano. The key’s weight is exactly right to me — and I remember YDP-144’s key is kinda lighter but I cannot tell much difference since I don’t have chance to compare them side by side. And I even feel YDP-165’s keyboard delivers better feel than entry-level acoustic piano I have in the house of my hometown, as YDP-165’s keyboard uses anti-slippery materials which reduce the chance of pressing wrong key. Anyway, I totally have no complain regarding sound and keyboard of this digital piano. I can use this digital piano to play “The Maiden’s Prayer” comfortably - so I think this piano would be well suitable for beginner to at least intermidate-level players. The design and color are beautiful and elegant too. The compact size well fits my small apartment (even it’s not YDP S series) . Cons: The craft isn’t as good as IKEA furniture (see photos), so you may notice some tiny imperfection. Some screw holes’ position isn’t 100% accurate so it may take some of your energy to well install the piano; but these are just tiny details. After assembling the piano is quite solid. Overall, the quality of Yamaha is reliable. Unlike some models in CLP series, YDP-165 doesn’t have screen and more than a dozen of buttons on control panel. I prefer YDP’s simpler control panel because it makes digital piano more like a traditional acoustic piano instead of digital keyboard. The negative side is that it’s difficult to set up your piano. Leaning how to use key combination to set up piano is even harder than learning how to play “The Maiden’s Prayer” , so you may have to buy a MIDI cable, or spend another 50 dollars buying a Yamaha Bluetooth adapter to connect piano to your iPad. I think Yamaha should have the adapter coming with Piano for free as YDP-165 is already sold at a much higher price in the US compared to Asian market. Also you have to buy an additional 6.35mm earphone adapter if you want to connect your earphone/headphone to this piano.

Next best thing to a piano! 8 yr old also approves ÷)
We traded in our very old little piano and got this in its place. The weighted keys are great. Lots of added features that the piano didn't have. My 8 year old really enjoys playing on this and it also looks really pretty and sleek. Also great that it doesn't keep going out of tune the way the old piano did due to too many changes in temperature where we live.
