    Very nice but not for me - Mandolin instrument

I'm a mandolin player and I found this pre-amp sweeten the sound. Bass strings didn't boom and I could take harshness and shrill away from the top end. There's loads of mid you can muck around with too. My mando is fitted with a mandolin Headway under saddle pick up so likely an excellent match and I did achieved a sound which I was seeking.It wasn't for me however, because although it sounded fantastic for solo playing, when I then played chords it sounded a mass of overtones creating a wall of sound which was unpleasant to listen too. You could correct this with re-adjustment, but  I personally couldn't find a happy balance 'trade off' setting between a solo setting and playing chords setting.So it's 3 stars from me, but don't let this review put you off, try it yourself. Maybe a pedal in-line could be used in conjunction with this unit which you can trigger for chords/solo playing?

Fantastic piece of equipment. I use it with a K&K Pure Mini - it improves the sound significantly and the range filter is hugely effective for avoiding any feedback issues. And it completely eliminates the impedance issue with it's impedance selection switch, which is a huge plus when it comes to the K&K. I highly recommend this product. Thank you Headway.
