Review: awesome - It’s great so far. Have had it for a month. I use it for radiology reporting with mmodal and it’s so far so good. Also it costs 1/2 the price of the phillips speechmike with no apparent difference from my side. I use speechmike at work and this Olympus for my work from home and it’s all the same.
Review: Good hardware flawed by poor software - I purchased the Olympus RecMic II for my office use. I am using Windows 11 and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 16 Professional. First, the microphone is EXCELLENT; however, the software used (at least with DNS), doesn't work well with Windows 11 in my experience. I tried it on two different computers running Windows 11 Professional and had the same results. The primary issue is turning the software microphone on and off using the "record" button. When you try to program it to begin dictation by hitting the record button, it defaults to putting a "+" symbol in whatever document you are dictating. The physical microphone itself turns off and doesn't record. Not sure if they simply need to update the software or what. I also purchased a Philips SpeechMike and it works flawlessly. If you are looking to save a few bucks and don't mind the software issue(s), this will work fine. If you are interested in a seamless experience, I suggest using the Philips SpeechMike.

**Q: will it come with software that allows to create a DSS files?**
A: All handheld microphones, such as the RecMic II, include programmable buttons, a microphone and mouse controls but none of them natively include the ability to create or save recordings. If you need this capability, consider the Olympus DS-9500 which utilizes DS2 algorithms (lossless compressed recordings). DSS algorithms were discontinued more than a decade ago because they have a lower frequency response. Otherwise, the RecMic II is very good but not as popular or capable as the Philips Premium SpeechMike LFH-3500 which includes our free KnowBrainer exclusive table stand that allows you to use SpeechMikes hands-free. Feel free to reach out to us at (615) 884-4558 x1 with additional questions. Note that Philips offers the ability to create DSS and DS2 recordings via their SpeechExec Pro utility (available for an extra charge) but most end-users simply use Dragon, which cuts out the middleman.

**Q: I need to use this mic with mac os catalina. i don't need other features except on and off button. can it work?**
A: This microphone is not fully compatible with with Mac, it will work as a USB microphone and the mouse control however all other buttons will not work. On/Off worked for us
