Can it be laid over existing bark chippings

As your bark clippings are already providing a mulch, there doesn’t seem to be any point in putting Strulch over it. Better to wait until the bark clippings have broken down into the soil.

Will this protect plants that ive cut back ver the winter?

Yes it will. The clue is in the name, straw-mulch, strulch. It works the same as a mulch with the added bonus of deterring snails and slugs. 😀

How light is this. It can get quite windy and wondering if the straw will blow away?

Once it is watered I have not found it being blown around...I use it in all my pots. I don't feel they are dressed without it. It has certainly helped keep moisture in during the hot days.... Stopped the soil etc baking.... And in winter helped the plants stay warmer.... I love it.

Will this protect roses from black spot spores in the soil?

No because it's in the air so this will not help but it will help in keeping the soil moister and keeping the weeds down onto of the best things to buy I have found is potato fertilizer and it's cheaper
