When dry the bristles are somewhat stiff and when wet they get soft, too soft for any real scrubbing but soft enough to hold some sudsy water while cleaning. The bristles are a bit too soft, act more like a mushy washer, which I like when rinsing off dishes to put in the dishwasher. So if the dishes sat long enough to start getting dried food this brush didn't do so well. I scrubbed the dish, then ran my fingers over the dish and felt food texture still. Soaking dishes first for some minutes made a nice difference. I prefer using a brush for things like lids to containers (that groove for snap-ons is harder to get with a sponge). Stuff does not seem to stick to this brush, that's nice.I also like to scrub the sink itself after doing dishes, and this brush is okay but after dong dishes has gone pretty mushy. Stiffer brushes just don't hold soapy water tho so this brush does for a bit and that's a plus (depends how much soap you use). The handle seems to be working very well, I like the angle and it doesn't slip in my hand like some other brushes do. I've tried a few different similar scrubbing brushes and they were flat out too stiff, stayed stiff in water and didn't really carry over any sudsiness. This brush does not fit inside some jars or glasses with smaller openings.I think I might be looking for a sponge-&-green-scrubber on a handle, I'd like a good scrubber that holds plenty of soapy water and actually gets the dishes scrubbed clean without using the dishwasher. I'd love to hear if anyone has a good solid recommendation for a perfect bristled brush that isn't too soft or too stiff and carries some sudsiness with it as you wash with it. I like to clean up around the sink throughout the day without having to constantly get my hands wet and in too much soap - which tends to dry my hands and create terrible dry cuticles around my nails. Otherwise I wear rubber gloves with super hot water and lots of soap. Putting on and pulling off rubber gloves can be a chore. Soaps like Dawn do a number on my hands any more, we've been using Castile soaps more now even tho they don't suds up like commercial dish soaps with unknown chemicals. I guess when it's this brush. Granted, I've only had it now for a day and only used it twice. However, it has already proven itself to be superior to any dish scrub brush I've used prior to this. The description says "natural bristles". Now, who knows what that means? I have visions of horse hair and the like but know that such descriptions are designed to deceive. No matter what these natural bristles are really made of - they do the job and do it well. They are firm enough to scrub with yet not so firm that they flip water all over the kitchen when they slide off the edge of the item being cleaned. I cannot yet attest to their longevity but I bet they'll beat the last brush i got which lasted barely three months (thanks OXO). Off-set handle is good. Raised scraper lip has little usefulness.Plus you get two to the package!We've now used one of these brushes for five days. If I could rate it at greater than 5 stars I would. The bristles seem to be absorbent and, more importantly, they are spaced very close together. This means that the brush will hold soap as you wash multiple items. It's incredible. The bristle length is good too. As I said, they come in packs of two. However, I went ahead and ordered two additional packs of two so that I now have five brushes in stand by. The handle is what makes this brush great. It fits nicely into the palm. There is no strain on the wrist while using the brush. I feel like I could wash dishes for hours using these brushes. They are very comfortable!Oh, and they are dishwasher safe too! That's a big plus.The handle makes this brush perfect for cleaning baseboards, grout, and other hard to reach places. They might be called "kitchen scrub brushes" but they are more like "household scrub brushes".
