How it works: This CD contains precise, computer-calculated audio signals. Each sample is as mathematically perfect as the CD audio format allows. Left and right signals are identical in amplitude and phase, allowing you to check channel balance and phasing. Precise sinusoids check frequency response over a range of 5 to 20,480 Hz. White noise exercises the full spectrum uniformly. Precise square waves enable measurement of transient and phase response. Pure and mixed sinusoids at maximum amplitude enable distortion and inter-modulation measurements. Signals announced for easy identification. most on dedicated tracks, easily looped. The disc doesn't have everything for stereo setup, but is a good value. A sample of pink noise would have been interesting/useful.

The frequency response sounds were useful. I found out that neither I nor my wife can hear anything above 8K. We could both hear 20Hz reasonably and 25 Hz well. The disc doesn't have everything for stereo setup, but is a good value. A sample of pink noise would have been interesting/useful.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Useful Tool for Calibrating Home Theater and Audio Systems

It seems natural to want to have a library of test tones to be able to individually select and play through the multi-channel audio system you pieced together from the finest components and speakers you could justify. Unless you evaluate your audio system using a non-subjective means such as this collection of primarily pure frequencies (and a dB meter), how will you ever know when its time to stop spending money? Or be able to prove scientifically beyond a shadow of a doubt that, yes, you actually did need to buy different speakers or invest $800 in Auralex acoustical room treatment? Not sure if your subwoofer is sub enough? I recommend cranking up track #7 for 10 glorious seconds of 5 Hz. Be careful-- you could fry something! I recommend this disc as a useful tool. I fault it a star because there is no printed track listing that comes with it. So I made my own-- see below.
