There are pegs on the bottom to anchor in the ground, but no holes on the top of the bricks to fit into to allow stacking. **Q: Would the solar light charge enough with only a couple of hours of sun exposure during the morning? The rest of the day they'll be in a shaded area.** A: I think it would need more than a couple of hours a day. It may even light up and go out fast if in heavy shade. **Q: Can water on soaked grou get in through in between each brick? Can this be used to make a mini levee to divert water from heavy rain during flood??** A: The connection between each brick is not watertight and would not act as a barrier to divert rainfall or water. I suppose that, potentially, you could caulk between them as you laid them? But they're not especially tall, so I wouldn't expect them to divert or contain much water. **Q: I am looking to use them around a small putting green and I will only have 1 inch for the spikes. How long are the spikes?** A: The spikes are about an inch and a half long. You might be able to snip a half inch or so off, but that takes off the pointy end. The spikes are tapered to the point. The thicker part of the spike could still be inserted into soft earth, though. We spray-painted them black-leaving white in between. Very easy to set-up because you can move them around into different configurations as they are so light. All my neighbors thought they were real pavers until they got up close. I would not recommend the paver with the solar lighting. Argee has had problems for years with these and they said 4 years ago they would correct the problem, never did, solar lights still the same. I got an order with 4 lights and one was bad. You cannot replace the battery in them. The batteries are soldered in and he case is completely sealed to be weatherproof. I suggest you just get garden solar lights of the type you like and put them in-between the pavers or you can cut out your own hole in the pavers and install the lights there, just be sure you get the correct shape in order to do this. Why Argee will at least not test every light before shipping I do not understand, very simple procedure to insure the customer gets all working solar lights.Breaking News:In contacting Argee about the bad solar lights they replied fast. They said not to bother to send the 2 bad solar lights back that they would ship me 2 replacement lights. You cannot ask for better service that that. I just wanted to pass on the good information as well as the bad. I tried a wooden fence around my 40' x 2' front garden. It was fodder within 3 weeks. Tried a second wooden fence. 2 weeks. So I finally decided that rather than keeping my dog-ters FROM the garden, I would give-up on wood & try to tackle one hurdle at a time. Thus, this low-profile, plastic edging (coupled with chicken wire to protect recent planting, it's really working out brilliantly).Installation & assembly was easy and didn't require any instructions -- pieces snap together and slot into the ground with stakes, and I haven't had any problems with connections or stakes after a year of ownership. I had my first solar lights burn out this past year, and happily will replace them because honestly -- this edging looks SO. DARN. GOOD. The bricks aren't gimmicky and the lights are bright. When I come home after dark, I appreciate the fact they'll illuminate the front of my house's approach (where this garden is). My gardener, who is careless and unconcerned about ALL of my gardening endeavors, hasn't hurt them in the least, and my dogs don't try to eat them. I just ordered 2 more 2-packs of replacement solar inserts, just so that I have some on-hand, and I don't mind the cost associated, because again, they look SO. DARN. GOOD. After a year of Southern California weather, the bricks are still attractive (and entirely crack-free), and I've had 3 lights burn-out (out of 6, granted). I don't mind -- buying solar, I understood the concept of a short life-span, and they're comparable to the stand-up solar lights I have scattered around other parts of my property. If you're looking for no-maintenance, this isn't it, but it's as close to low-maintenance as I've found, and the aesthetic benefit far outweighs the cost, IMO.
