The ascorbic acid is very fresh: pleasant in taste and effective for skin application. I use it both as dietary supplement in my raspberry/hibiscus tea, and as a Vitamin C serum for topical application (along with the hyaluronic acid I got as free sample). Neither the ascorbic acid nor the hyaluronic acid had any trouble dissolving in water. I'm never again spending so much money on Emergen-C or equivalent pouches - it's so much better to just add a little Vitamin C to whatever I'm already enjoying as a drink, and so much less expensive!
