Bikers Steel Work. This book is full of good ideas for the metal worker.The projects are not for the beginner,, but show the proper ways to undertake custom steel work. Various custom creations are carried out by some of Americas top metal workers.

Aimed at beginners this book illustrates the basic skills through a variety of custom motorcycle projects that will encourage anyone to give them a go. Enjoyable.

The book is a collection of projects that have been photographed and captioned, but which illustrate well the techniques that the author is trying to put over to the reader. If his aim was to make metalworking look pretty straightforward and interesting, then he has probably achieved this. It's a very easy read, the techniques are well illustrated, and the projects are generally quite useful in illustrating the techniques. My only real criticisms are that I would have liked to have seen some more detailed basics, such as how to produce rolled edges, and some more information on actually using the tools, such as the English wheel. The latter seems to have been only superficially covered, and doesn't really tell you much about its operation. Perhaps the author would like to revise the book and include more details of tools and techniques, and perhaps some Youtube clips would be an excellent addition. I enjoyed reading the book, and feel a lot more prepared to handle some of the metalworking projects that I have planned, so considering the price, I am quite happy with the purchase, and have subsequently bought some of the other books in the series, too.

Excellent people doing and teaching their best. Reachable and very well described projects for the very beginner, you'll want to start working as soon as possible!

Auf Grund der Bebilderung und dem an sich leicht verständlichen Text ist es eine unglaubliche Hilfe für viele Detaillösungen und Arbeitsschritte bei der Blechbearbeitung. Sowohl für Stahl als auch Aluminium werden spezielle Arbeitsschritte leicht verständlich erklärt. Obwohl es als Biker Basics bezeichnet ist, sind die Inhalte auch für den Karosseriebau bestens gegeignet. Leider gibt es für diese sehr speziellen Themengebiete kaum deutschsprachige Lektüre. Wer den Aufwand nicht scheut sich mit dem Buch auseinander zu setzen, erfährt mit ihm einen "Tiefgang" in die Geheimnisse der Blechbearbeitung. Beim Kauf empfehle ich die Advanceversion gleich mit zu bestellen. Beide Werke sind unglaublich lehrreich. Wer sich mit der Blechverformung von Stahl - und Aluminiumblechen beschäftigt sollte beide Exemplare sein Eigen nennen. Wer allerdings der Meinung ist, das er nach dem Studieren beider Werke nichts neues darin finden konnte, dem kann ich wohl nur bescheinigen, das er ein ganz Großer seiner Zunft sein muss!

i've bought a lot of sheet metal fab books on amazon, and this is one that really is for the backyard fabricator. expensive machinery is next to nil in this book and instead focuses on very gradual basics of moving sheet metal with most tools you can easily afford or fabricate yourself. bought the jesse james austin speed shop dvds on amazon, and although they're affordable and interesting to watch if you were a west coast choppers fan, they cannot hold a candle to this book as far as educational value. i only wish that rob roehl (pictured on the cover) would release fabrication videos, maybe showing how to even set up basic fixtures at home and how they could potentially shape custom parts at home. long story short, you can't go wrong buying this one.

This book is aptly named. It covers the basics. For someone new to fabrication it is a necessary addition.
