They stand behind their product and will work to make customers happy.
(Updated review:) I am changing my review to 5 stars as after correspondence with MaxpeedingRods and going through their checks they have stood up and done whatโs right and stood behind their product by replacing our Generator. I believe that there was a fluke issue with the original one and it originally worked 100% only to later loose the electronic start function. I have no reason to believe that this is a systemic issue and think that it was just our luck of the draw to have that issue. The new generator works flawlessly. When a company like MaxpeedingRods stands behind their product we can tell that they are a company that we would like to continue to do business with and recommend their products to our family and friends. For full disclosure I paid for the first generator out of pocket full price and with the issue and going through their resolution they replaced it. Knowing this you can feel safe in spending money with them for an investment such as this. Thank you MaxpeedingRods! (Original review for reference:) I am going to say itโs a wonderful product with at this point questionable support. I am going through their support for the last week with limited effective responses. If this changes I will change my review to 5 stars but at this point the electric start has failed and they are sending me thru the same tests multiple times. When it arrived everything worked flawlessly and now only the electronic start functions do not work and I eagerly want a resolution but so far Iโm just getting scripted responses from the app at first and now via email. If they help me resolve this it will truly be a quality generator however the support has to stand up and provide true assistance for this to happen. I believe they can if they are willing. (Final thoughts) as you can tell if you read everything they did stand behind their product and I once again commend them for it.

Be careful, its non-returnable.
This is the single biggest waste of money i've ever had to deal with. I bought it to replace the 2500 watt propane generator in my vintage camper, surely 4000 watts would be an upgrade right? Unfortunatly this one maxes out at a constant 2700 watt, with a start up load capaibilty of maybe 2900 watts, if that. I've had this about a year, and run it only maybe 10 times, becuase it cant run my camper, the camper A/C, or even the convertor. Dont be fooled by the 4000/3200 watts claimed in the listing. I had to buy a soft start for my camper convertor (which already had a soft start) becuase it couldnt even start a load for a power supply. As far as noise, its 78-80 decibals at 70% of (stated) load capacity. 58 db as mentioned in the listing is at idle in eco mode, without a load. On the 9th time i tried to use it (last night) it i found the battery had gone bad, now requiring an external battery. Now, today, the 10th time I try to use it, it wont even start. I changed out the supply line, regulator, and popane tank, checked the fuel selector switch (both toggle and turn switch), but the thing just sits there and cranks without starting. I am hoping publically posting my experience will get someone from customer support to reach out, so far emailing them has not gotten a response. So frustrating. Its ruined my camper experience entirely becuase i basically cant use it.

Worked well as a generator, bluetooth functionality failed; customer service excellent
As a bare generator it worked well. Powered my 12k BTU portable AC, fridge, some electronics and a blower fan with a 20lb propane tank for over 12 hours no hiccups. The major issue was complete loss of bluetooth functionality, the app and even the onboard lcd screen displaying usage % etc. This left me in a bit of a limbo with hurricane beryl as I wasnโt sure how it would fare overnight. Luckily we got power back in 16 hours. I seriously needed bluetooth to monitor it from the other side of the house while it was on the front porch. It was never exposed to any rain. I emailed [email protected] and exchanged 4 emails. One asked to send them a video of the unit not displaying the bluetooth LED which I did. After that I was told to wait 1-2 business days and one week later I have still not heard a response. Even with the $200 coupon this unit sits at a pricey $899. At that price point the main reason I purchased it was limited availability of other bluetooth-enabled generators. Really you are limited to this one, the MXR4000, Honda 2200i, Ecoflo and Ryobi. Apart from the other MXR none of them are rated for more than 3000 watts. So I bought this one. Now if bluetooth is unreliable and nonfunctional, at $899 you can most definitely proceed with buying a much more powerful inverter generator lacking bluetooth well within 6000W territory. I will update the review and rating once I hear a final usable solution from MXR. For now, I find 3 stars generous simply as it kept us reasonably comfortable with a cold fridge for 14 hours (which one can argue any number of other generators could have done and more at $899).. UPDATE: Customer service was generous in offering a partial refund for the bluetooth malfunction to be used towards the bluetooth surge plug. Happy with their service, increased to 5 stars. They offered to replace it but since it functions as a regular generator I opted for a bluetooth plug and only lose the remote start capability which is fine

No Parts Availabilty And Gap That Plug for Gasoline
First a quick tip: If you are getting rough running on gasoline, particularly with lighter loads (around 1000watts), replace the spark plug with an NGK CR5HSB and gap it to the manual specified .032 (.8mm). It seems these generators are being shipped with the gap set much tighter than is specified in the manual, probably because they run better on propane that way. Now on to my long winded parts concern: Iโm giving three stars as I find the generator to be of decent quality and the features are top-notch. I know of no other generator currently on the market that provides this much power at this size and weight and includes so many features like electric start and remote start with Bluetooth. Thatโs the good, and thatโs not trivial, but hereโs my story to explain the bad and that bad might be a deal breaker for some people. This is long, so feel free to skip to the end for the wrap up. First, I have been a small engine mechanic for the past 15 years. I have a shop in Maryland that repairs and maintains lawn and garden equipment, motorcycles, scooters, generators and outboards. When my unit arrived, I unboxed it, filled it with oil and started it up without a load for an hour and it ran flawlessly. I played with the Bluetooth function and was truly excited to realize that I would be able to start and stop the generator from the comfort of my RV without having to put on clothes. :-) For the second hour, I added about a ยผ load using a heat gun set to its lowest setting. I then did an oil change. On day two I went to try to start it using Bluetooth and the generator could not be found on the app. Checking the generator I found that the Bluetooth LED was not lit. I went through the procedure to turn Bluetooth on and nothing happened. Thinking I must be doing something wrong, I went ahead and started it up and let it run for two more hours under varying loads. During that time I was never able to get the Bluetooth to turn back on. (The procedure is to push and hold the reset button down for a few seconds.) I did another oil change and when I went to start it up again the battery was dead. This made no sense as it had just been running for two hours with only about a 10 minute break to change the oil. I disconnected the battery and checked the voltage and it was only at about 9 volts. I connected a lithium charger set to 2 amps and charged the battery back up to 14.4 volts. Reconnected the battery and started the generator up again. Now I connected a multimeter to the battery while the unit was running in fast idle and I could watch the battery slowly discharge when it should have been charging back up after the starter had drained it a bit. My first thought was that there must be a problem with the DC regulator, so a disconnected it and found that it was actually producing 14.4 volts when disconnected, so it was fine. But when reconnected it would only output 1.5 volts, which is definitely not fine. Looking at the schematic that is included in the manual, I saw that the next component in line after the regulator was a PTC (resettable fuse) so I found that and tested it and it was also right where it should be at <1 ohm. Next in line on the schematic is the USB port. I tested the port and got zero volts output while the engine was running. I disconnected the USB port and immediately the battery started charging at 14.4 volts. So, the USB port is bad. I donโt care as I would never use that anyway. ( I would have much preferred a 12 volt port there instead.) So I could just leave the USB port disconnected and the battery charging problem was solved. But none of that explained or helped the Bluetooth problem. The schematic is not very detailed so locating the Bluetooth module is not simple. There is a block labeled โBluetooth Display Meterโ on the schematic that I found on the machine that appears to provide the variable display, and several LED indicators including the Bluetooth indicator. This being the only mention of Bluetooth on the schematic, Iโm guessing that it also is the location of the Bluetooth module. (I suppose it could be integrated into the inverter assembly, but that doesnโt seem logical to me.) So something had happened that took out the USB port and the Bluetooth module. What happened, I donโt know, but I made the decision that I wanted to return the thing, either for an exchange or for a refund as the problems occurred withing 24 hours of opening the box. I thought an exchange would be fine as my experience must be a fluke based on all the positive reviews. And I really do like the generator otherwise. As we all know, you canโt return items that include gasoline engines using the normal Amazon return procedure. I tired, of course, but got the โthis item is not returnableโ message. So I called the number included in the box for support. I got a very friendly fellow who really wanted to help. He tried for about a half hour but concluded that since the generator had been shipped from an Amazon warehouse, he could not arrange a return. He was not a technician, so he couldnโt help with any further troubleshooting either. He sent me an email with the phone number for Amazon support saying they were the only ones who could arrange a return/refund/replacement. His email also instructed me to make and send them a video showing the issue. So I did that first, sending a video that showed that the engine would start and run but that no matter how much I tied, the Bluetooth would not turn on. I then called Amazon who, of course, told me that the generator was not returnable and that I should contact the manufacturer for warranty service. I explained that I had done that and the manufacturer had sent me back to Amazon. It took 40 minutes on the phone talking to two different but very friendly and helpful reps, but the end result was they sent me a 100% refund and told me to keep the unit. Nice! For full transparency here, I will say that I then immediately ordered another MXR4000GT, but this time on one of the big box store websites just in case I ever needed to return the second one, the process would be very easy as it can just be taken to any of their stores. I did lose about $150 on the transaction as my purchase on Amazon was using the Black Friday sale pricing, but oh well. So now I have a free MXR4000GT without USB (I donโt care) and without Bluetooth (Iโd really like to fix.) So I waited to hear from Maxpeedingrods support regarding the video I had sent. I have already bored you enough with detail so Iโll spare you the detail of a weeksโ worth of emails back and forth between me and China. It was exactly the same as any other time I have dealt with China for product support. Each email takes 24 hours to get a response (Understandable. Theyโre on the other side of the world.) and it always appears that each email is coming from a different rep that never bothered to read any of the previous emails, only the one they are responding to. It can be very frustrating. Suffice it to say I just kept explaining that I am a small engine mechanic (they all wanted me to take it to one of those) and that I wasnโt asking for any warranty service, I just wanted to purchase a part. Specifically the โBluetooth Display Meterโ. This request obviously fell well outside of the script they use to answer questions so getting a rep that would finally answer it was not easy. But if finally happened and here are the last email exchanges: Maxpeedingrods: Dear customer๏ผ We sincerely apologize, but the spare part you requested is out of stock, and we're unable to source it at this time. Me: Will there be availability of this part in the future or are you saying that spare parts will not be available for this generator at all? Maxpeedingrods: Dear customer๏ผ Unfortunately, we're unsure when this spare part will be back in stock. We only have the whole unit in stock now. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. There you have it folks, direct from the manufacturer. The only thing they have to sell is the generator itself. No parts. So what happens when your two year warranty expires? And have you read the warranty? Did you you notice that it specifically excludes shipping in either direction for this almost 60 pound item? Even if you find a local mechanic that is willing to work on it, they wonโt have a source for any OEM parts so anything specific to this unit (like a Bluetooth module) will be a no go. Am I complaining? No, I ended up with an extra functional generator for $150. But I wouldnโt have purchased the first one if I knew there was no way to get OEM parts.

Good out of box
I will not give it 5 stars until I run it for a few months. That being said took it out of the box it was in good condition no issues there. I added oil and gas connected the battery wires turned the gas up and it worked perfectly

Great little generator
Feature packed little generator. Handles all of our needs. 3600 peak watts - 3200 running watts on propane. 4000 peak watt - 3600 running watts on gasoline. The wife doesn't like the smell of gas, so I run it on propane. Has Blue Tooth control of starting, stopping. Runs on either propane or gasoline. Has digital gauge for output power and voltage. All this at a reasonable cost. Not 100% sure, but seems to be quieter than my old 2200 peak wattage running generator. Build quality seems to be better too. Only down side is that it's a little heavier, but you would expect that from a higher output generator. Hopefully it will be trouble free. Only problem I had was finding the starter battery connection. The manual tells you to connect the battery, but doesn't tell you where to look. After a bit of searching, I finally found it and connected it. So far, so good.

AWESOME GENERATOR!!!
This is by far my favorite generator that I own (out of four). I use it to charge my solar home backup batteries when solar isn't cutting it. The app works well and the output THD is clean. It's a little louder than my generac iq3500, but the fact that it runs on propane more than compensates for that. I also like that I can pick it up and set it in the back of my truck and use it to power my welder anywhere I go. The build quality is great and is very efficient on propane. I get between 6 and 8 hours on a 20lb tank with moderate use. It's also great for camping when solar isn't enough to power my tent AC. I've also seen several people using them for RV's and they really like them. I also like the fact that they put a light on it. The display tells you all the info you need if you don't want to use the app. I usually don't push it past 2800 watts but it will surge to 3600 watts on propane if needed. I did swap out the spark plug it came with (torch) with an NGK plug. I haven't and don't plan on putting any gasoline in this generator, so I can't speak to it's performance on gas. Another perk to the design of this thing is the internal propane regulator, so I can use any propane hose that I want and not have to worry about an external regulator that other brands require that can break, be left behind, or misplaced. You still have to use a tank regulator, but not the big plastic/metal one that champion and predator come with. It also comes with a parallel kit if you want to combine two of these. I would definitely recommend this generator for any light duty single phase power needs.

Amazing little generator
Almost the same size and weight of my Honda EU2000i. It seems quieter to me than the Honda. Started on gas with first push of the button. Easily starts my camper air conditioner that the Honda wouldn't. Contrary to another review, bluetooth starting does NOT require any wifi or cellular service. I put my phone in airplane mode and just bluetooth and it starts and stops perfectly with the app. Tested it on propane and it also worked flawlessly. Will update if things change but so far it's very impressive.

Defective Unit, no reply from product support.
Product does not charge its own battery, battery slowly discharges while running until display and Bluetooth stops working. Generator seems to run ok and is quite, Bluetooth was nice when it was working but it would not restart using Bluetooth after it was shut down via Bluetooth. Cold starting using the pull cord was not as great as some reviews stated at -20C would not start after several pulls needed to be warmed up then started first pull. Hoping this is just a defective unit and the vendor will ship a new one. But they have not responded to my inquiry. I will start return process through Amazon if they donโt respond.

The generator to get when you don't want to spend Honda money for the wattage you need.
I needed a generator for a small off grid cabin to charge up the lithium battery pack and I decided to go with the dual fuel MXR4000GT and it has been great so far. Starts up easily on both gasoline and propane even in cold temperatures. I saw a few people mentioning theirs leaks fuel (user error!) that happens when you fill the tank beyond the red bar at the top of the tank... Due to the unit being compatible with a fuel transfer pump there is an overflow to avoid pressurizing the fuel system. Now the 1.1gallon tank is a bit on the small side and if you are always running it like I am (60-85% load) you will only get 2-3hrs on the fuel tank without the fuel transfer pump addon. But that's why I opted for the dual fuel version so that I can run it on 30lb propane tanks with the same 60-85% load I'm getting around 18hrs per tank. I did the effeciency calculations: 1.1gallons of 91 produced 5.5kwh which is 14.8% effeciency and a 30lb propane tank produced 33.5kwh which is 17.8% effeciency. So definitely better running it on propane. It's also pretty quiet depending on the load with it only getting relatively loud above 2000w. In terms of max power output it will hold 3300w @119v charging batteries on both gasoline or propane at 700ft AMSL pushing even slightly beyond that bogs down the engine before tripping the overload. But as always for longevity continues loads like battery charging should be kept below 85% or ~2700w which this unit does happily. After the 25hr break in period on dyno oil I used amsoil 4 stroke synthetic 10w-30 which made a dramatic difference in cold start performance for those using this unit in cold regions. Overall I'm happy with the unit considering the price and features compared to a 3x as expensive Honda with similar running watts. It comes with a 2 year warranty as well. And weighs just 50lbs so it's easy to move around compared to similar spec generators
