It is thick so it covered over the vinyl woodgrain color of the current cabinets. The current cabinets also had peeling vinyl in some areas, and it went over it smoothly and you cannot tell that the surface under was uneven since some of the previous surfacing had peeled off and some remained, so I was really pleased with that. The cabinets I covered had flat doors but if there was decoration in it, it would be hard to cover. I purchased an exacto knife and a felt-end smoothing tool which made things go easier and I wouldn't attempt without these. It has been up for a week in the heat of my garage (in the 90s this week) and its adhering so far, but I am curious to see if it will adhere long term because it does not seem quite as sticky as I hoped.
