I'm a tall mom 5'8 and the point of squats is to feel the weight, pressure as your going up from "bent knee postion" to work your gluteus (behind) sadly you don't feel pressure till your almost at standing position. Had no issues getting it set up and I love that it came with exercises for each part of the body on the insert. Directions sucked but this is my second bar in 3 years (misplaced the first bar). I got this one for the door anchor so I can take with me and lose out on fitness. And for the record I’m 5’5.6 and had zero issues with the bar being too short for me. And the bands seem to be pretty sturdy as well.
