In the first photo, I set up 2 pair on a flat plastic panel and used a carpenter's square. Note the 2 on the right are angling apart and the 2 on the left angling together. I then rotated each piece (in place) to make sure that this was not due to any abnormality in the plastic surface. Note that the 2 on the right are now together and the 2 on the left are now apart. This shows that the problem is with the parts and not the plastic surface they are on. In the 3rd photo, I put a long weight (an old railroad spike) on the far side to hold down the pieces as flat as possible.
