## Description

Science Fiction Classics Collection (DVD)]]>

Review: Fantastic Collection Sci-Fi---Screen Aspect Ratio's Below - This is a must have collection for 1950's sci-fi lovers. I have most of these on my DVR from TCM, but DVR's fail. I am so glad to have a physical copy of these movies. The video quality is darn good. They are not Blu-Ray quality; however, you'd pay a lot more than $19.99 to have Blu-Ray copies of these movies. The worst copy in the group, imo, is "Forbidden World". ******Following are the aspect ratio's for the movies in the collection****** "Them" - "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" - "The Thing" -- Standard Ratio 1:33:1 Note: The TCM copies of these movies on my DVR was shown with full 16:9 screen coverage or "anamorphic widescreen:. On my Samsung TV, I have a "wide fit" option that stretches what's on the screen to full 16:9 coverage. I used the "wide fit" option on the DVD's & the aspect was exactly the same as my DVR recordings. That made me very happy "Forbidden Planet" - "World Without End" - "Satellite in the Sky" -- Widescreen Letterbox Format to keep original movie aspect. Note: The aspect ration for this would approximately -- 2:35:1 "The Time Machine" - Presented in a "Widescreen "Matted" preserving the aspect ration of the original theatrical version. Note: When I checked this DVD on the player, the movie played as an "Anamorphic Widescreen" or 1:85:1 aspect ratio. This collection is well worth the money!!!
Review: Sci-fi Classics + bonus features = Fanboy Bliss - I don't often rate things so highly. The quality of this box set is stellar. It's a amazing collection of classic Syfy great for fans and collectors or beginners just getting into this genre. The DVDs are amazing quality and the fact that they use the poster art makes it much nicer. A lot of companies when doing these public domain style DVD sets we'll just put them in paper sleeves in a DVD case and forget about it. these have special features including an interview with Ray harryhausen and more. On the movie side of things, you have The Thing : from another world the movie that inspired John Carpenter to do is remake and is an amazing movie in its own right. it has beast from 20,000 fathoms which is Ray harryhausen classic. also Forbidden Planet all, I have to say about this movie is Robby the Robot. If you don't know who Robby is you've definitely seen him a few times in your life. And there is a lot more in this set but my nerdy sci-fi fanboy self is already rambled enough.
