This was a smart movie made by the director Ryan Coogler Fruitvale Station. I saw that movie first and didn't liked it becaue that movie was just for the ending. All the 2 hour moment was just meant to be there for the last kind of shocking ending. I spent my 2 hours for watching 2 minutes of the final shot and I thought that it was not fair. But one good thing about that movie was he seems to know really well about the dark side of ths street. As seeing this movie, he recreated the junk street neighbor well again. I cannot but to compare this movie with the ROCKY 5 since it's about Rocky and his pupil story. And I have to say I felt how bad the ROCKY 5 was as watching CREED. ROCKY 5 had no heart. And most of all it had no fighting sequence on the ring. And the struggle between Rocky and his pupil doesn't really interested the audience. This movie is not like that. It's about Apolo Creed's son finding his own person just like once Rocky did. He dosen't even met Apolo when he was alive. Now when he was in the prison and his mother came to tell him that he will take care of him from then, he stayed with her and live a decent life. He was like 12 back then. When he was fully grown up and got this great job, he quite all of a sudden to become a fighter. Now he came to Rocky for help. He struggle to get what he wanted just like all the other boxers. But he made it at the end. There is another story with this beautiful lady he met who is living in the same apartment. She is a singer and I would say she is the second lady who is Afro American that I truelt love. The other one is SADE, the singer. The romance part with her enriches the movie and I liked it much. She is very pretty and knows how to shine the screen. There are four kinds of music in this movie. One is a Rap music- kind of old style but not like silly Rocky 5 style. Two is orchestra music to imitate the original Rocky movie. Three is the electric rock music that Creed's girlfriend sings which is great. Four some of the oldies which is very hillarious to hear. It is good not to see Creed sustaining the champin by using montage like other Rocky series. Most of the boxing movies use that technique. This one was not. Actually the director does not use any of the cliche kind of technique at all. The last championship happening in the Uk was quite exciting because There is no wide shot for fighting sequence. Most of the fighting scene, there are more then one wide shot plus reversal shot of the audience's reaction. There is none in this movie. There are a lot of blood in the fighting sequence which is totally real. This is maybe for R rated movie. When there is a moment when Creed is almost about to knock out there is a bunch of quick flash backs, that moment is beaufifully edited. Right after that he was recovered. That is the moment he got the turning point. Just like Rocky's first fight back in 1979, for Creed, wiining and loosing deosn't mean anything for him. He just wanted to feel that he won from the bottom of his heart. And he did won. The score doesn't matter. We all does. In life, if we feel that we won, all the other thing doesn't matter some time. because in deep inside, you are a true winner.

Such a great movie. It ties in the old school Rocky flavor with modern times. You get all the nostalgia you're hoping for. Balboa makes several references to the times he fought (and trained with) Apollo Creed. "Your old man taught me..." and "When I fought your dad...." And if you pay attention to the dialogue, Balboa even echoes things that Apollo said to him (the drop it in their subtly, but the hardcore fans will recognize it when it happens). Stuff like that hits close to home for me. They also make a reference to who won the sparring session at the end of Rocky III. This film shows not just the physical struggle of the young Creed trying to make a name for himself (without piggy-backing off his father's legacy), but it also shows the struggles that Rocky faces as he ages. I also like that they brought back the character of Mary Ann Creed. You really get all the elements in this movie. The underdog story. The love story. The nostalgia. You get the gritty details of all the things you would hear being said in a boxing gym and in the corner. You get to see the dirty side of the industry (the business side of things). MBJ really looks the part of an up-and-coming contender, and he can actually box really well. The actor really did his homework for this film. It's so much fun to watch Balboa go to the other side of the training mitts and take his late friend's son under his wing. There's a lot of real-world fighters in this movie, and one really nice detail is when they do a freeze-frame to introduce rivals and their stats. Very nice touch, in my opinion. They also do some long fight sequences in a single camera shot, which is impressive, and you know that these are the actual actors hitting each other, not stunt doubles. Such a great movie, and I really can't say enough great things about it.

My wife and I just watched it tonight for the first time. We absolutely loved it! This movie was about Adonis Johnson, illigetimant son of Apollo. Amazing amazing idea. The story wasn't rushed. The movie took time but not too much time. Adonis basically is a troubled kid but grows up well under the parentage of who has to be mother of the universe for adopting Apollo's child. He feels a calling to the ring and all roads lead to rocky balboa when he needs someone in his corner. This movie had everything for me. The music, the famous Rocky boxing style of fight. The director, Ryan Coogler, did an amazing job. I've committed his name to memory because I think I might check out his other movies. This director did so much with simple scenes. Two examples. In the beginning when young Adonis is in juvenile detention and is visited by apollo's wife, a point comes in the conversation when the kid asks what his fathers name was. The screen goes black and the title of the movie slowly comes up. The other time was at the end. Not too much detail here, but in his big fight, Adonis is simply knocked out. He's out. But the movie goes to scenes that was things playing through his mind. The final one being a piece of a clip of Apollo fighting rocky he watched. It pauses on Apollo smiling at Rocky on that moment of his fight and bang! Adonis gets back up and you know it's on. I just can't say enough about this movie. If you haven't seen this yet do yourself the honor of watching it. One more thing... I read that they are in talks about Creed 2.

I actually got this as a gift for a co-worker. He's not a Rocky fan per se but I knew he liked the work of Ryan Coogler so I got him this and he LOVED it! As for my thoughts on this, I was not crazy when I first heard of this film being made as I thought the previous entry "Rocky Balboa" was a great ending to Rocky's saga. But then I read what it was going to be about and it was about the Creed family so I was willing to give it a chance! So glad I did! Not sure how I feel about having Adonis Creed being an illegitimate child of Apollo though. While I personally wouldn't have wrote it that way, this was only touched upon briefly (thank goodness)! It did focus on something that is a problem in America in general and the African-American community in particular and that is in the absence of fathers (though in Apollo's case, you can't help being dead as that is what happened to him in Rocky IV). The way Adonis' struggles are shown was very well done. I also liked how they kept Rocky to a minimum though his role was very significant as well. The cast assembled for this film was near perfect and I do like how they bridged the gap between generations. Overall, even if you aren't a Rocky fan, this is still a good movie to view! Boxing is the backdrop but the main focus in on the human spirit! Recommended!

I am a fan of the first four "Rocky" movies. The fourth one was filmed in the hotel I worked at. I got to see the filming of the James Brown scene in the showroom and checked Mr. Brown and his then wife in to the hotel. I also checked in Mr. Stallone and his then wife (Mr Stallone more than once) I remember his room numbers for "Rocky IV" 6410 & 12. I was one of the first female bellhops in Las Vegas. It was an honor to see much of Rocky IV being made and meeting some of the cast. I'll never forget it and I've seen a lot over 32 years. I was surprised by this movie. It was much better than I ever expected and find it very hard to believe that Stallone did not win an Oscar for his immortal role and this performance. It has the intensity of the first four "Rocky" movies. Michael B. Jordan did an astounding job of playing Adonis Creed as well. Director Ryan Coogler from "Fruitvale Station" was also incredible. This movie is worth owning and the best movie I've seen in a very long time. My only regret is I didn't see it in the theaters. I went back and bought the first four Rocky's although this one stands on its own. Hopefully "Creed" will continue for a new generation..

Other than the" Billy Jack " Franchise movies the "Rocky" franchise movies are the only action hero series that show personal growth throughout the series! As I understand it this according to Stallone is not Rocky 7 but Creed 1 & it starts off with the same message we got in the very first Rocky film, that you don't have to win the fight to win a personal victory!!! It is inferred in the movie that the champ will be vacating his spot to go to jail setting up "Creed" 2 where creed will win the official title & 3 will be his defense of the title against the champ he couldn't beat & so on & so on. Personally I don't see Creed as such a flawed character to support a long running franchise but a sequel would be nice to see if Rocky beats cancer or we finally bury our pugilistic hero! My friend said he thought this movie took the Rocky franchise around full circle & it does in many ways but without its ties to the "Rocky" franchise I don't see a successful long running franchise here. Apollo Creed was the reinvented Ali & Rocky was the great white hope that was never a existed !!! Don King killed the legitimacy of the sport of boxing & M.M.A. is replacing boxing & other one dimensional martial arts competition. Maybe this is the way to take Creed!!!

I am one of those people who didn't allow myself to enjoy the Rocky series as, for some unknown reason, anything to do with Sylvester Stallone has always turned me off. However, I put this film on my Ultra HD player and found that I was roped into the thing from the get go and could not believe that when Sylvester made his appearance I was dumbstruck because for once he seemed like a real person. Gone was the Sly of the old days when he was making headlines with Brigitte Nielsen or buying palatial mansions in Miami or Beverly Hills and dating Janice whats-her-name who now looks like the straw someone sucked through Dickinson. The movie is the best of any of Stallone's work and I am glad to see that the years have allowed him to develop into a great film maker. Too bad Schwartzenegger didn't develop some chops while he was away from the screen. Evidently, Stallone, though I had always derided him for wasting his talents, had some to develop. I can't wait to see what he does next. He's still got some stories to tell, I bet.

I enjoyed watching this spinoff sequel of the Rocky movies very much and the prompt delivery was great as well.

Soy seguidor de la serie Rocky y la ví con cierta prevención. Tengo que reconocer que me sorprendió muy favorablemente. Los tópicos habituales, pero presentados de forma distinta. El Óscar para Sylvester Stallone hubiera sido muy merecido. Recomendable para los amantes de este tipo de películas.

Creed ' Rockys Vermächtnis (OT: Creed ' Rockys Legacy) aus dem Jahr 2015 ist wohl endgültig der letzte Teil der Rocky-Saga. Wenn man sich alle sieben Rockyverfilmungen ansieht, erlebt man das Altwerden eines Top-Schauspielers dessen Herzblut immer für seine Rolle Rocky gewidmet war. Rocky war für Stallone auch immer die einzige Rolle gewesen, wo das was der Charakter Rocky sagte, auch aus seinem Herzen kam und für ihn wahre Worte beinhaltete. Jetzt wäre es möglich, dass aus dem 7. Rocky-Film ein Spin-off wird und zu einer Creed-Saga werden könnte (auch wenn einige vielleicht dann aufstöhnen könnten). Vor über 30 Jahren verstarb Creed im Kampf gegen einen russischen Boxer. Der uneheliche Sohn Adonis (M.B.Jordan) wächst ohne Vater auf, wurde aber von Apollos Creeds Frau aufgenommen die seitdem seine Mutter war. Er schmeißt seinen langweiligen Job und macht mit seiner Boxerkarriere weiter, doch es fehlt ihm noch einiges um wirkliche harte Gegner zu begegnen. So macht er sich nach Philadelphia auf um Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) zu suchen. Dieser war einst der Gegner und später der beste Freund von seinem Vater. Er will das Rocky ihn trainiert und Management. Doch Rocky will zuerst nicht, erkennt aber die Fähigkeiten des jungen Mannes und übernimmt sein Training. Doch dann erkrankt Rocky an Krebs Hier gibt es schon viele Meinungen zu diesem Film, so dass ich ein wenig zum Hintergrund plaudern möchte. Creed kostete nur 35 Millionen Dollar und spielte 170 Millionen Dollar ein. Ein mehr als erfolgreicher Abschluss einer Filmserie. Für den ersten Rockyfilm gab es 10 Oscarnominierungen, drei durfte der Film kassieren. Stallone, auch nominiert ging damals für Schauspielerei und seinem Drehbuch leer aus. Auch für Creed gab es eine Nominierung als Nebendarsteller und ging schon wieder leer aus. Interessanterweise waren die jeweiligen Jurys sich nicht einig. Während Stallone für die Nebenrolle in Creed für den Oscar nominiert war, wurde er aber auch mit der goldenen Himbeere nominiert. Ich fand ihn in dieser Rolle wieder hervorragend und wir Fans können froh sein das sich Stallone vom Regisseur breitschlagen liess, doch noch eine Rockyfolge abzudrehen. Bei der Filmmusik wofür Bill Conti für den ersten Rockyfilm eine Nominierung erhielt blieb in Creed nicht viel. Einige Themen von Conti arbeitete der neue Komponist Ludwig Göransson zwar ein, aber die Musik blieb Angesicht der Story und der Action eher blass und fiel nicht weiter auf. Creed führt die Saga mit einem Neubeginn fort - nun ja, vielleicht. Doch was will man dann noch bringen? Für die Rockysaga ab dem zweiten Teil kritisierte man die Themenwiederholungen bzw. die politischen Aussagen, dennoch fand ich jeden Teil gut. Es erzählt den Aufstieg und Abstieg eines einfachen Mannes der sich dann doch trotz seiner Verluste überwindet und neu beginnt, mit jedem einzelnen Teil der Saga fieberte man mit ihm mit. Und die zumeist übermächtigen Gegner in jedem Film spielten ihre Rollen perfekt, vor allem wenn man bedenkt das einige von ihnen in Wirklichkeit Herzensgute Menschen sind und dann solch böse Gegner zu spielen hatten. Zum Schluss der Rockyfamilie blieben nur mehr er und sein Sohn übrig, wir besuchten mit ihm die Grabstellen und es kommt Wehmut auf. Man lebte mit ihm mit, ließ sich vielleicht mitreißen. Und wenn schon nicht durch die Filme, dann durch die Musik von Bill Conti (schon mal trainiert mit dieser Filmmusik im Ohr?). So schafft Creed nun auch keine neue Story, aber im Leben von Boxern geht es halt immer nur um das eine. Aber es ging in dem Film auch um Stärken. Eine Frau die ihr Gehör verliert, ein Mann der gegen den Krebs ankämpfen muss und ein Neuaufsteiger der sich im Box- Ring beweisen möchte. In Creed schaffte es Stallone auch mit Augenzwinkern sich selbst zu verschaukeln - ja wo ist wohl die Cloud (Bezug auf eine Filmszene)? So verabschieden wir uns mit ein wenig Wehmut von einer Legende die uns 40 Jahre begleitet hatte. Laufzeit des Filmes: 133 Minuten. Qualität der Blu-Ray: Bildqualität: 1080p (2,40.1). Das Bild ist scharf und ohne Bildstörungen. Tonqualität: Deutsch in DD 5.1 und Englisch in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Der Ton ist gut und die Dialoge gut verständlich, die englische Tonspur wie allzu oft jedoch besser.
