A "Cold" Case?
Another hit by the Cryptic Killers Team! This was a fun 2 hour session of detective role play. I was completely immersed in the story and was so pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of some actual history in the game! This was probably 3 out of 5 stars for difficulty. It was complex on some parts because names were left out and really needed you to draw on the context clues and inferences given. This was so fun to do solo and would be even better in a group. Honestly, buy this immediately. The value is insane for how much you get out of the game! I would recommend supporting this team always because they are so thorough with all of their cases. Thank you Cryptic Killers for being my favorite hobby!

Great game with a few people, could be accomplishable solo as well
Awesome game! Really enjoyed the flow and it gave us a challenge while also not being too puzzling. The mix of photos, letters, etc was a nice touch to provide different kinds of material. Considering it took us a few hours, id say it was worth the price as well!

Great Way to Spend an Engaging Evening off of Electronics
These games are fantastic! My sister and I did one over New Year’s and now every time we spend a weekend at the family cabin, the “crime solving detective duo” reunites and we bring a new case to solve (lol!). Great way to stay engaged and off electronics for an evening. This one (Murder on Market Hill) was quite involved, with two “parts” in two separate envelopes - it took quite a while and I loved it. Have done two others, will most likely end up purchasing all of the Cryptic Killers cases before the year’s end!

Reading is fundamental
The game was great. Had some twist. and we had to really think and read all the newspapers clippings to get the whole picture. skimming is not an option. Tools a minute but in the end we figured it out.highly recommend it!!

Give it a try! It’s a great mystery!
I was skeptical at first. I’m a HUFE FAN of a game series called “Unlock” and a series called “Sherlock,” and I was nervous that those games had ruined any possibility of a good new game series for me to start… MAN WAS I WRONG! What a fun idea! This game is a great single player or group game. The set up is really what brings it together. First showing up in an evidence bag!!!! Then everything inside the evidence folder looks (I assume) as if it were a real case file. Photos, mail, witness reports, police records, they really go all out. You can tell a lot of love and time was put into this game. There is a bit of an online aspect to it as well. If you get stuck, the hints are easy to use and well designed for the game. I liked this game so much I bought 4 more. For the price it’s not bad, and the game doesn’t get ruined after one play so I can share it with my family. (That’s my favorite part about a good game, sharing it.)

You will be entertained and challenged
Wasn't sure how much fun this would be but now I am hooked. A great date night game that is challenging and engaging. Will definately be buying more for gifts, very affordable entertainment!

Hmmm … where’d THAT come from?!
As usual the accompanying material is perfectly produced- never any complaints there. Without spoiling the end, I have to say the answer revealed in Part Two was particularly unsatisfying; thus, the 3 stars.

Excellent mystery to solve
Super fun activity! I did it on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. It took a couple hours but was honestly a fun thing to do that was stimulating the mind.

Challenging fun games
Absolutely love these games. This is the sixth one my 18 year old and I have done. Hard enough that it takes up most of an afternoon or evening but not so hard it’s no fun. The amount of thought and effort that has been put in to the evidence in the case files staggers me every time with the little added points of detail on the information to be sifted. Quality product. The first one we did we got as a present (not something I’d have thought to buy if I’m honest) but we loved it so much we keep buying them ourselves. Hmm, which one to do next….?

Challenging but really enjoyable, fun evidence, doesn’t hand hold
Took 2 of us about 5 hours total, we chose the murder in market hill. Spread across a few days. Evidence props were really cool, 100% recommend. 5/5 was challenging and it doesn’t hold your hand, be prepared to turn every stone.

Excellent Mysteries
I was given Murder at Merivale Manor for Christmas by my daughter and we solved it together. So then I was hooked! I purchased Murder in Market Hill for myself and I’ve just completed it successfully! I have to admit I needed one hint in part two but other than that I managed to work everything out. The kit is really well put together and very realistic. Hours of fun and head scratching!! Can’t wait to try another one! I definitely recommend these games

Another fun romp. but objectively not a 5* difficulty, and somewhat flawed
Really great materials and set up as always (ive done ALL of them). Infact this one might be better than the others in terms of story/background, i was hooked instantly. What i will say is this is the perfect one for anyone to start with, there are lots of things that look like they might later be red herrings or relevant, which later end up not being used.. so the story is detailed and engaging, without needing to pick up on, and remember, every detail - everything is pretty straight forward, and theres no real tricks or gotchas. Determining the killer really involves noticing one (pretty obvious) detail, and doing a puzzle. This gives a great flavour for what the other games are like, and i definitely enjoyed it, but it was objectively the easiest solution (in terms of hoops to jump through and logical deductions/connections to make)... in fact it was somewhat too easy, and the usual jump for joy getting it right was somewhat soured by the fact this one holds your hand so much. Personally, i like red herrings and having to double-read everything, and going a bit insane towards the end trying to hold everything in your head. In short, its a perfect start to Cryptic Killers, but if you've done ones like the Musician, Casino, Biologist, Theatre, Manor (i realise im basically listing them all) and want an equal or more advanced challenge, you wont find it here. this is a 3.5 at best, but a solid experience all the same. I still think the Musician is the best one in terms of overall package; story, complexity, satisfaction.
