No, it's not a bootleg. However, here is a possible reason why some reviewer says that it is fake. 1. They don't know any better. or 2. They actually did receive a bootleg version. Explanation of 1: If you go to megahouse official website and search for this product, you will see that the price is ¥9,250 (or 88.80 USD at this time of writing). If this was fake/bootleg, it will be significantly cheaper, not more expensive, as how it is here on Amazon. P.S. The product is sold out on the website, but you can still see the pricing when it was released back in 2018. Explanation of 2: It's possible to receive a fake product on amazon since anyone can become a seller. A scammer can become a seller. So... if you buy from the seller "Amazon.com" then you will get the real one, if you buy from some other sellers then you may get a fake one.

Is the figure actually 8 1/4 inces tall??

no, it's actually about 7 inches and 1/4 tall. The extra inch is from the stand that she must stand on, otherwise, the figure will fall over. Taking the stand into account, it is about 8 inches and 1/4 tall.

For my first figure would this be good??

If you like Android 18, then yes. It's very good for its quality, size, and price.

Can you remove her clothing?

Nope, however it is somehow moulded differently from the body so it is distinctly seperate.
