My oldest kitty, Donut, was recently diagnosed with urinary crystals and requires to be on prescription food that other kitty, Mabel, cannot be on. He is also not allowed to eat her food to try and keep everything under control. Feeding them at certain times was difficult to do as Mabel is a big foodie, and if Donut didn’t eat all of his food, she would eat it all. So after much research on the many different covered automatic feeders, I decided on purchasing two of this one. It is a bit expensive but absolutely worth the price, and the kitties took up to it immediately! The setup isn’t too hard as long as you follow along with the booklet they provide, then the PETLIBRO app does the rest. Very simple and easy to set up. What I like about it is that it only opens for the specific cat whose tag you register to it. Mabel did try to bite her way into Donuts bowl, but was unsuccessful thankfully. That proves how durable it is!!! I also like that you can set up meal times to automatically dispense at a certain time at a certain amount. If you free feed, this is still possible to do per pet if you just keep track of how much food has been eaten and just refill when it gets low. You can set dispensing schedules by day and time and if you prefer for the kitties to get fed a certain amount 3 days a week and differently the other 4 days, you can absolutely easily set it up that way. The ability to also put batteries into the feeders to allow it to work in case of a power outage is a lifesaver!! If you have a kitty that is also food crazy, you can adjust the cover closing times and speed to try and help ensure that the other kitty does not steal food. I’ve also placed the feeders in different rooms to avoid this. While there are a lot of pros, there are a few cons but it isn’t necessarily a deal breaker for the overall feeder. If you schedule meal times, if the kitty hasn’t eaten the full amount, it will obviously pile onto the food in the bowl already. If your kitty isn’t much of an eater, the food will pile up and cause the dispenser to get blocked. It’s easy to fix, as I usually just open the cover in the app and use my finger to pull the blocked food down. For my kitty who doesn’t eat a ton, I have turned off scheduled feeding to avoid this from happening and just refill when it gets low. This isn’t a deal breaker whatsoever as he is still getting the food he needs! When setting up, the feeder also does talk, which may be startling for some skittish kitties. Luckily, my kitties were not fazed by it; although, I did completely turn down the voice as soon as I could to avoid them getting scared if it did talk for any reason. Lastly, the last con is the often changing and cost of the desiccant bags; although, there are alternatives that you can find online and use in place of the PETLIBRO branded bags that work just as good. Overall, this is a great product given my situation! It does its job perfectly and helps keep my mind at ease that my kitties are getting the food they need. 100% recommend!

We bought 2 so that our cats would stop stealing eachothers food. One of them is on a special diet and gets sick if he eats the others food, and the other is a thief. So far the feeders have been working pretty well. Getting them used to the feeder did take a bit of time, and I wish that there were instructions for getting them used to it. What worked for me was feeding treats nearby, then putting their normal bowl on the feeder (without RFID), then using open mode with treats, then adding the collar with open mode. The included collars were not the best, but luckily the RFID can be detached and attached to another collar. One of our cats is on the smaller end and hated having the ID hanging down. I ended up using an airtag holder and placing the RFID tag in there, which he doesn't mind. The feeders functionality and setup so far has been great, and it is very nice to be able to see when the cats actually go to eat. One thing that has been a bit annoying is that sometimes the bowl portion shifts, creating a lip that gets food stuck in the shoot as seen in my photo. This is resolved by reaching in and pushing down on the bowl portion until it removes the lip. The other one doesn't have this issue, so I think maybe its just a fitment issue with this device. Overall, this feeder is great value for money and totally resolved our issues with the cats stealing food. Our cats are definitely healthier with this feeder, so I highly recommend it for anyone in a similar situation. The wifi connectivity is nice and allows for easy setup. I don't pay for the app, but the even just the free features are pretty nice. It

I have had a problem in the past with my two cats stealing each other's food and over-eating. I bought two feeders about a year ago, so here has been my experience so far. Pros: • My cats can't steal each other's food! - This was a big issue for me as they'd make themselves sick from over-eating or just getting downright chunky. • I can set how frequently they're fed and manage how much they get with each meal time • They have the option to be battery operated in the event of a power-outage • You get alerts on the app when the feeder notices something is wrong, such as food stuck in chute, low food in the reservoir, or the door won't close properly • Hands-free management of pets, you can leave home for a couple days and know they'll still get fed • Relatively easy to set up and program! If you're not tech savvy, please take the time to read the instructions carefully and anyone can do it. • Easy to take apart and clean! Really helpful if you have messy eaters or cats that slobber Cons: • If your cat is a messy eater like my elder cat is, there is a good chance food pellets will get lodged in the nook and not allow the feeder door to close properly. This defeats the purpose of keeping the food fresh and not allowing my other cat to eat from the bowl. • Does not work well for smaller pellet food, if it lands where the door latches, it will not allow the door to close and it will leave the door WIDE OPEN • They way the door folds back partially covers the bowl, so they may not eat all the food in the bowl. As more food dispenses, it can gradually accumulate in one spot and clog up the dispensing chute • Some of the little foam/rubber feet come off and don't seem to want to stick back on • Must have a 2.4G network to connect them to Wi-Fi. This may not be an issue for everyone, but most newer internet plans don't carry this network anymore and require special access to set-up, it was a HEADACHE when we moved. All-in-all, I have been relatively happy with the feeders, they have made my life easier and helped me manage how my cats eat without me having to constantly supervise the sneaky food thieves. Yes, they have their issues, but checking them once daily for build up helps maintain them fairly well. Most of the pros outweigh the cons for me, I will definitely keep using these feeders, but hopefully PetLibro will come out with a better version that addresses some of the issues this model has.

I don’t understand why this doesn’t have higher reviews. This is absolutely amazing! I bought it for my parents when they travel out of town so they don’t have to bother friends and family. Also because they were over feeding the cats. I love the option to record custom audio prior to feeding. The cats flock to the machine when they hear the audio. They caught on pretty fast. It tells you a history/ log of the attempts made. I laugh when I see they get the early or late night munchies. It also gives you the option to change the led display. A little weary about buying the desiccant packets. Can’t tell if it’s a money grab or really necessary. 100/100. The set up was okay.

Petlibro RFID Feeder Review PETLIBRO One RFID Automatic Pet Feeder PLAF301 THE BAD: MAJOR DANGER-PINCH POINT-COULD TURN DEADLY I have 2 senior cats, a 5 month old kitten, and I foster kittens constantly. I have a constant flow of kittens due to my fostering which their size can range dramatically. My 2 senior cats are on prescription diets for health reasons so I needed to get a feeder for my 5 month old that they could not access. I did my research and this one checked all of my boxes. THE DANGER-One of my current foster kittens is TINY. ¾ of a pound. He wiggled his way in to share food with my 5 month old, which is fine as they both eat the same kitten kibble. When my kitten walked away, the foster kitten continued to eat but the feeder began to close. The foster kittens paw became lodged in between the feeder bowl and the lid, which latched with the paw in it. Since my kitten had walked away, I could not reopen it immediately, the lid release button on the feeder did not work immediately as it was in a locked state and had to pop the lid open with my fingers. I assumed maybe this was a fluke since this kitten is soooo tiny. So for the next few days I monitored the feeder extremely close but it happened again and this time could have been deadly if I had not been right there. That same tiny kitten had the lid close on his neck and latch. His head was in the bowl and the lid actually closed and latched. I was in absolute shock. I again had to pop the lid open with my fingers. I do not want to think about the outcome if I had not seen this happen. He has been examined by a Veterinarian and was thankfully ok. After this incident I did further research regarding the “safety sensors” on the Petlibro RFID Feeder and found that the infrared sensor detects objects in front of the feeder, the bowl lid's closing time is delayed by 2-3 seconds for safety. (The sensors are located at #4 on the photo attached) There are 2 issues I recognize immediately with the sensors safety. 1. The sensor itself is located on the upper middle front of the feeder. Which in my situation, probably did not even recognize there was a pet there due to the size of the kitten. 2. The sensor only triggers a delay in the lid closing but do not stop it. In my situation, even if the sensor had recognized the kitten, it still would have the pinch and lock point. Additionally, I am disappointed with the issue concerning the lid release button unable to be utilized in this type of emergency if the buttons are locked. To unlock the buttons on the feeder, you need to hold the unlock button down for 5 seconds to unlock all of the other buttons. In a true emergency, 5 seconds can make the difference between life and death. My concern is that without a sensor near the bowl and one that does not allow the lid to close and lock if there is any movement, not just delay it….is there a chance one of my resident kitties can get their paw, tail, or other part closed into this feeder lid? Yes, that possibility is very real. THE GOOD: Not to minimize the events I had occur in any way, but other than those two incidents, I have been pleased with the feeder, and it met my pets needs. Initially I wanted a feeder that recognized microchips as my kitties do not wear collars, but I decided on this one. The RFID tag was easily removed from the collar that it came on and was put onto a breakaway collar. It is a bit bulky on my little kitty’s neck but she does not seem bothered by it at all. The physical setup up was very easy and straightforward for me, which I loved. The app was also very easy to setup and customize everything from the display, to my voice as her custom meal call, to the amount she is fed and when. I love that it logs what time she goes to the feeder to eat and the minutes and seconds that she ate for. Overall, I am pleased that my other 2 seniors can not get to her food and disrupt their medical care but I am extremely disappointed in the major safety flaws. Sadly, I am on the hunt for new feeder as their safety is my biggest concern and priority.

I would give this product a million stars if I could. Truly the best product I’ve ever gotten for our two kitties. This automatic feeder has been an absolute life changer for me. Before, I really was struggling to keep up with our cat’s feeding habits. One of our cats, Colby, is constantly grazing. Usually never eating more than a few bites at a time. So feeding him twice a day just wasn’t cutting it for his nutritional needs. However, our other cat, Kahlan, has some medical issues that have caused her to gain weight. She has to be on a special prescription diet and her food needs to be portioned. You can see my dilemma. Prior to this purchase I was feeding our cats 4 times a day!! And on top of the sheer quantity of times they had to be fed I also had to monitor each feeding to ensure Kahlan wasn’t getting into Colby’s food. Fast forward to March, 2025. My husband and I are going on vacation in 1 month and trying to figure out how in the world we are going to keep the cats on their now well established routines. Of course, we can’t expect someone else to come into our house four times a day AND supervise each meal multiple times over the course of a week. Then I remembered this recommendation from a friend. I had put off purchasing this in the beginning simply for the expense, knowing we would have to get two machines. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny. We have both machines set up so the cats get 1/12 cup of dry food 3 times a day (7am, 3pm, and 10pm) the food automatically dispenses at these times each day and you can use the app to easily change how much food you want dispensed and at what times. I watched the instructional video and had no issues with set-up. That being said, our cats have always been comfortable wearing collars. The collars are an important piece to this process working smoothly because the machine is set up to recognize the collar of the cat it is paired to. This function along with the plastic side guards ensure that the cats cannot get into each other’s food, not for lack of trying!! So if your cats are not used to wearing collars or will not wear them, this product won’t work as intended. The collars are also not made of the most durable material. However, you can easily take the “chip” off their collar and place it on a new collar and it will still work as intended. Another note, if you are getting these before going on vacation like we did, I highly recommend getting the product about a month or so in advance. Colby took to the machine instantly. However, Kahlan would not eat from hers for a while and it took a number of days with us feeding her next to the machine for her to get comfortable with it. If you find your cat having issues with it, I would recommend giving it a week or two to allow them to adjust before returning the product. Though she took longer with warming up, she now happily uses her machine and races to her feeder as soon as she hears the sound of her food dispensing. We had only one glitch when we were on vacation where the food in one of the feeders got stuck and wouldn’t dispense. However, the app notifies you instantly telling you exactly what the problem is. We called a relative to fix the problem and the app will also remove the error code once the problem is properly resolved. We also bought a pet cam to set up next to the feeders so we could monitor the cats as they were eating and check up on them each day. This product truly gave me my life back. I cannot speak more highly of these feeders. If you are doing what I was and hand feeding and supervising your cats multiple times a day, please try this. If it doesn’t work in 3-4 weeks you can always return the product. BUT if it does work, you will get your time back and significantly reduce your stress and frustration over your cats health and weight. These feeders completely eliminate the problem of overeating. Please also note that with the exception of the one technical difficulty, we have not had a single issue with the feeders prior or since. We have continued to use them daily even upon returning from our vacation as a replacement to hand feeding the cats.

FINAL REVIEW: I’m keeping the 3 star rating. After the app came back up, and after much back and forth with PetLibro’s tech dept via email (there is no number), PetLibro finally gave me two new machines, acknowledging the issues I had been having since the beginning was indicative of bad machines. The two new ones have been better. That said, these machines are still a lot of money given their lack of functionality. If the app goes down or you loose wifi, the only thing you can do with the machine is open the feeders by pushing a button on the machine. The app continually wants to do updates and sell me things. The battery life indicator and notifications are nonexistent. They advertise that feature but it does not work. If the machines have to run off of batteries, you’ll be lucky to get a week. To be brutally honest, I wish these machines worked better. But they just don’t. I use them because I am a two cat household with a food hog that needs prescription food. If I could get away with none or one, I would. UPDATED REVIEW: We are now just over a year into using these feeders. We’ve had several tech issues. I’ve had to disconnect and reconnect the feeders to the app multiple times since owning them either for dropping wifi connections or due to low food warnings not working. The most recent tech issue was the major AWS outage that took down Amazon. Our feeders were in operable for a day, thankfully we were home. To be honest, if you don’t absolutely NEED this feeder, I’d recommend something else. We use it because one cat is on prescription food. The feeder ONLY works via the app which means if the app crashes (like it did recently with the AWS outage) the feeders are useless. Ideally PetLibro will update the machine to be able to program directly from the machine like its other feeders. Until they do that, I won’t get a replacement if one of these kicks the bucket. We have a 2 cat household. One cat eats prescription food and is a food hog. The other cat doesn’t and likes to eat a bit, then come back for more. Do I recommend it? Yes. BUT know what you’re getting and know there’s room for improvement. The entire thing functions by way of an app so it’s not for people who aren’t tech savvy. You can manually dispense food from the feeder by using the buttons but for meal programing or programing the widget to the feeder you’ll need their app and wifi. The app is relatively easy to use. You WILL need batteries. If wifi goes down the feeders WON’T work - we learned this the hard way. The batteries have NO life indicator so make sure you put new batteries in if you are going away - we also learned this the hard way when we went on vacation and the house lost power. Thankfully we had a cat sitter checking on them…without back up batteries food WON’T dispense and the feeders won’t open. It does require the cats wear a collar so if your cats don’t wear collars there is that. Ours didn’t but learned to adjust. You’ll likely need to teach them how the feeders work relative to the widgets they wear on their collars. We used treats and food to accomplish this and they picked it up pretty quick. The side panels do a good job of keeping one cat away from the other one eating but a dog or determined cat might be able to dislodge them intentionally. We have yet to have a the food hog cat break into the other’s dish while there’s food in it but she does paw at it. You can set the dish cover to close at a faster rate and change the close time which is a good feature. I think the two biggest flaws are lack of being able to set or change the feeding schedule on the device itself. And the lack of a battery life indicator. We got ours in April and it’s now December, hopefully the longevity with this feeder is relative to their other feeders.

These are 4.5 stars. There are a few glitches that can be worked around. Overall good feeder. First, the stupid tag and collar. I hate them. I don't like the collar because it is far too difficult to get undone. I can't imagine putting it on a cat and trying to take it off without strangling the cat. I bought 2 sets of feeders they came with slightly different collars, but both sets of collars were equally difficult to get undone. I bought 2 RFID tags from somewhere else (you have to get the right kind or they will never connect, but say they did), the ones I bought work well, and they hang down lower, which brings me to the second issue. Second, 2 feeders do well with the tags (the ones the feeders came with or the ones I bought separate) just dangling higher in front of the feeder. However, 2 of the feeders did not work like that. The feeders would not open unless the tag was touching or almost touching the pad. That isn't the way that's supposed to go because when the cat goes to eat, the tag is not touching anymore. I had to add a 1" loose leaf binder ring to the tags so they would hang down low enough. I feel like this is not a permanent solution, but it works for now and doesn't seem to have interfered with their bathing. The little dry bags are not necessary to buy if you don't put a ton of food in at a time (but who wouldn't fill it all the way up?) I have had a non-RFID feeder that I never put a dry packet in for and the food never went bad or moldy, so I will see what happens. Maybe the tank is different than the other one? Setup was really easy and quick. Zero issues. I thiught there were issues when the door wouldn't stay open for the cat, but that is not a setup issue. I wish the app would let you permanently decline the service they try to sell you, or even snooze it for 30 days. It gets irritating if you tap on something and then it suggests a subscription. I have had the foo(Solid Gold Everyday Nutrition) jam in the shoot. If that happens, clear the jam, then do a manual feed, too. I have seen other cats go to other feeders, get confused, and tey to open the other feeder by different means. They could not get in. We had old RFID feeders without a hopper, and those worked well until the dogs realized if they just shoved the cat out of the way and shoved their own head in and did noy remove their head until they were done, they could eat all the cat food. That is not the case with these feeders. They could get a little food, but the door gently pushes under the snout. The only option for the dog is to try to flip the door before it fully closes, to keep the door from latching. I don't knkw how well that would work out for them. They have not attempted that. The hopper holds a decent amount of food. The old non-RFID feeder was diuble the size and feeding 2 cats, so this is about right, you would want to check the food every so often anyway. And, the dish has little side walls, so the prevents unwanted sniffers from getting into the food while the cat is still sitting there. The display is kind of cool because you can change it to a picture or change it to the cat's name. I have it on the name because there are 4 feeders and I need to remember which one gets the prescription food. The display IS nice to have, but it isn't anything fancy. Just basic dot clusters for the display. I like the stainless steel dish, and that it's removable. Now I get to see if the weird chin stuff on one of the cats has to do with the dish he had previously been eating out of. The app is really nice. The non-RFID feeder worked with an app, but would not tell me if the food ran out. It let me schedule feedings and notified me of jams. The Petlibro lets me set up feeding schedules, manually feed, manually open the lid change the name on the LED, and tells me if the food is out. Only issue is with clearing a jam. I cleared a jam on one feeder and the app said it was clear, but the feeder, itself, said it was still jammed. I did a manual feed and that cleared the error message on the feeder. Portions. The portions of food are odd. They almost seem like too much food. My chunky cat (13 lbs British Shrot Hair/Scottish Fold) cannot keep up on the volume of food a 1/2 cup per day. That would be 2 feedings at 3/12. I have to turn her feeding schedule off until she catches up. I haven't tried to change the meal call, and actually never hear it, so I don't know how it sounds or if it does anything. I do know the cats can hear the food dispensing because I can check their eating history and see that they went right after food was dispensed. The eating history on the app is nice. I've had to tell a vet if a cat has stopped eating or decreased, and you can tell by the history if they are eating less or about the same. This is helpful. If my litter robots break, I may try the Petlibro litter box, and just be full circle with their product line. For sure having a litter box that weighs the cats has been useful for telling a vet when the started losing weight and having it all in one spot would be fantastic. So far, good product, with minor mods for the RFID tags, and I would not use the collar the tags come with. All 4 were difficult to undo.
