Natural Chestnut Coppice Knob Stick

Great walking stick given as a gift to a friend who prefers this to any other he has (and he has quite a few!) Packaged carefully and very well received. Definitely worth 5 stars 🌟

Absolutely beautiful and just the right length.

I received this stick today, so I can't report on how it handles on a walk. First impressions: - The stick is very light and very rigid. It feels reliable and solid, despite its lack of weight. - The rounded knob at the top of the stick fits very comfortably into the palm and the fingers fall naturally and comfortably down the neck of the stick. - The bottom is finished with a ferrule in black metal crimped onto the wood. There are traces of wear around the bottom edges of the ferrule, which is a little surprising. While the stick is about 2.5cm across at the bottom, the base of the ferrule is about 1.7cm across, making me suspect that it will drive into the ground when it's wet. Perhaps more of a city stick than a country one. - When it arrived, a barcode sticker was glued to the stick, about 6cm long and 3cm wide. Someone had apparently tried to rip it off, but had failed to remove more than a small fingernail worth of the paper. I managed to remove the paper by dint of a lot of scrubbing, but the glue was more obstinate. What finally managed to remove it was peanut butter smeared on, left for a few minutes, then wiped off. It took a while...

Lovely sturdy lightweight stick. It was a little thicker than I had imagined but, obviously, every stick is a one-off. If you do decide to cut the stick to length you will need to replace the metal ferrule with another, either rubber or metal (a metal one will require some stick whittling). I find it easier just to hold the stick lower down the shaft, that way you have the extra length when you need it.

Straight, strong and robust with a good supportive knob for a large palm . . . perfect length for a 6'3" with a spinal injury. Strong enough to be a support for getting me from a seated to standing position. It also looks great and doesn't flex like the NHS options. Thank you very much ! Update 9/11/24 . . This stick is still with me and as reassuring as ever, and anyone else should consider that this is 8+ years old now and has every day use !
