The band is about to get a big break by playing at an exclusive ski resort called Sun Valley, when the romance between the piano player, Ted, and the singer, Vivienne, is rocked by a publicity stunt. The band adopts a wartime refugee who turns out to be a gorgeous blonde Norwegian looking for an American husband. To be fair, the story is not important, but is the framework to showcase Sonja Henie's skating talents. Glenn Miller and his orchestra add to the enjoyment with such great standards as I Know Why, In The Mood and Chattanooga Choo-Choo which features the talents of Dorothy Dandridge and the Nichola Brothers. The very funny Joan Davis makes three brief appearances. Milton Berle and Lynn Bari have important supporting roles. There is a theatrical trailer which shows a quick shot of a Joan Davis musical number which was deleted from the original release. The skating finale is one of Sonja Henie's best skating routines. The ice was covered in black ink to give the effect of skating on a mirrored surface. It's stunning to watch. The black and white print quality is very good to excellent. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Movie: 5 stars DVD: 1 star *by N***A on 1 August 2009* This movie is delightful and I have owned it on VHS for many years. This title is not available on DVD in the U.S. which is where I live. I have other Region 2 DVDs which play just fine on my Mac using VLC software. This DVD would not play at all on VLC, and so I simply gave the DVD to a friend (a Glenn Miller fan like myself) who owns a Region free DVD player. I am out the price and the shipping, but at least a friend can enjoy the DVD. I greatly lament the fact that it would not play on my computer - using VLC - it's strange since other Acorn Media/BBC titles in Region 2 do play with no problems at all.
