A couple got mowed down by the landscape guys so we were looking for something to protect them and this works great! They are easy to use and come with little stakes that make them easy to use. We really like them and ordered enough for all 40 trees and they are working great - no more losses to mowers or weedeaters! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Needed something to combat pocket gophers in california *by C***F on Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2022* When we replaced our entire landscape with native california plants, we were instructed to plant everything in gopher cages to protect the roots from hungry pocket gophers, which we did. They especially love nice young tender plants! No one told me that they also come above ground to enjoy their meal (aka: killing my plants!!). We lost almost 16 plants before realizing we needed to protect them above ground too. Couldn’t find anything at our local hardware store that didn’t require a DIY solution. Since we are trying to protect about 20 plants (the ones we know are their favorites), crafting our own barriers would take some serious time and energy. These were fairly easy to use although connecting two or 3 to make a larger ring for slightly bigger plants took some fumbling, but we got the hang of it after a few tries. The gopher technically could still tunnel underneath to gain access inside the cage but this makes it a little harder for them. Hoping since we only covered the plants they’re consistently snacking on that they don’t move on to our other unprotected plants. Know that these do cast some speckled shade if you have sun loving plants! Our goal is to keep these on until the plants mature enough that the gophers can’t kill the entire plant with a midnight snack. I gave it 4 stars because each set of 4 came in its own box but was then taped with the most annoying strong material that it took a lot of effort to separate them. Totally unnecessary since each set came in their own perfectly sized box. It was kind of infuriating actually and the tape would just shred and tear and took forever to remove. I’ll update this review in a month once we’ve tested its effectiveness. Our resident owl caught our resident gopher last night (thank you Mister Owl!) so we need to wait until the next one moves in to see if it does the trick!… ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful *by T***G on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2021* I use these for many purposes. They can be used to protect young plants from wind and cold. I also usethem to discourage squirrel predation. They don’t work 100% for this purpose but they do discouragethem from digging to some extent.
