Trying to find good looking, quality melamine dinnerware that doesn't cost a fortune is impossible. These feel and look like a higher quality than most plastic plates and are very nice looking. In fact they feel more like ceramic, but are lighter, and no doubt less prone to breakage. I bought them for use in our small RV camper van. We haven't used them yet, but they seem to be just what we wanted. They will be hand washed and not used in a microwave as the product description cautions against. A few other reviewers mention they may scratch easily, but we won't use sharp knives on them, so I don't anticipate any problems. They look great!
