I PERSONALLY LIKE THIS MODEL AND FIND IT FITS MY NEEDS PERFECTLY
Yo-yos are such personal things. I have found over the years what one individual feels about a particular brand or model can quite well be to polar opposite of another. Yo-yos also behave differently; even those of the same brand and model. I have used three of these Mavericks and each and every one of them behaved just slightly different and each had a different "feel." For the money, I like this yo-yo. For the quality and versatility you are getting you are actually spending very little. No, it is not as good as some of the one, two and three hundred dollar or more yo-yos but those are made for specific purposes and for specific skill levels. Most of us...myself included, will never have an actual need for something like those; although I must admit that they would be nice to have. This yo-yo is simply not for everyone and the Omega Company plainly says that in their advertisements. It is of course made of metal and has a very high tech bearing. This is a very small yo-yo compared to most but it weighs much more than larger models. It is extremely fast, it is small and it is hard. If you throw a very hard sleeper and if you mess up, this thing can cause quite an impact on your hand if you are not ready for it; it can and does cause some soreness and bruising until you get use to the thing. That being said.... I have had great luck with the Maverick. Like any yo-yo that is used a lot it will require a lot of string changes. I can get about two hours out of one string. If you buy this thing be sure you purchase plenty of extra strings while you are at it as you will need them. Of course you can say that about any nice yo-yo that is used a lot...the more the yo-yo weighs the more strings you will go through. The sleep time on this model is great. Due to the wing or butterfly shape, it is great for string tricks. The gap is a bit wider than on some yo-yos which helps a lot, especially for some one like me...old and not very good. The smallness takes a bit of getting use to especially if you have been using a larger model. I have several so the adjustment was not difficult for me as the sizes of mine go from ultra small to quite large. I have found these yo-yos to be quite well made. Like any yo-yo they will break if you continually bash them into the ground on a hard surface. This is often caused by improper string length. Seldom does the length of the string right out of the box fit the individual thrower...you have to cut and adjust. I stand just less than six feet and use a much longer string than a four foot kid would use. Now I like this model as it suits my need well. It is versatile enough to give me plenty of learning space and I like the smooth and fast action along with the long sleep time. But, as I said, this one is not for everyone. I personally would hesitate to give it to a very young beginner and of course different people have different tastes. Don Blankenship The Ozarks

Best Budget Yoyo for all levels.
I had previously been given this yo-yo from a relative and I fell in love with it! I have since bought a Dv888 and although I will not argue that the 888 is a better yoyo I will say I find myself using the Maverick nearly twice as much. I have personally purchased this yo-yo for my friend who wants to get into yo-yoing and is working on a free medical aid ship off the coast of Africa for 10 months. These are the reasons for my choice: Pro's: 1. The Maverick is a great starter yo-yo, it will return to you're hand for the first 200ish ours of play with no problems. This means it won't frustrate the beginner as many non-responsive yo-yo's will do. 2. The Maverick is fully capable of the more advanced non-responsive string tricks after the 200 hour mark (this is because the rubber bumpers wear away making it need a bind return). 3. The Maverick is cheap compared to all other metal yo-yo's, 20$ is nothing in the world of unresponsive yo-yo's. 4. The Maverick is durable! I use the Maverick more than my Dv888 for one reason: Durability. The Maverick can take a hit, bounce off concrete, cement, hit railings, and keep going. (Mine currently has metal showing on the outside of both halves, still play's great.) I do believe the dv888 would do the same but I refuse to beat up my 45$ yoyo. 5. Finally, the Maverick grows with you! When the yoyo is fresh out of the box it will respond to a small jerk of the finger, great for frustrated beginners. As you continue to play the bumpers will wear out making the yoyo less responsive to every tug. After awhile it will not come up all together, this is perfect for the intermediate/ advanced player because an entire world of string tricks are available only to yo-yo'rs that have fully unresponsive yoyo's. 6. The Maverick as a standard C bearing size, this means that replacement bearings, although generally unnecessary, are easy to purchase. (I have roughly ~2000 hrs on my bearing, no problems) Con's: 1. The bearing does not stay on one half of the yo-yo when disassembled, this means if you get a knot in your string and you open you're yo-yo you may lose the bearing. (I once had to climb under a muddy deck to retrieve mine) 2. You will not have the stability that other much more expensive yo-yo's will have nor will you have the sleep time. This is sometimes a problem when learning a long trick because it leaves little room for error. That being said sleep time is generally determined by user skill. In the beginning I could get 30seconds from my Maverick, now I'm pushing 2 min. It will come in time. 3. Finally the Maverick, after allot of play, has a tendency to come apart during play. This is normally not a problem because the Maverick makes a very distinct sound before separation. On average my yoyo tries to separate every 8ish hours of play. 5. It is a metal yo-yo and thus it is hard. Obviously. It is also heavier than the general plastic yoyo, this can sometimes lead to hurt hands. This will only be a problem for the first week. Hands will toughen up and the way you catch the yoyo will become more refined. Overall the Maverick is THE BEST choice for any kid, teen or adult looking for an awesome yoyo on a budget. It's versatile, strong, basically bullet proof, and will grow with the yo-yo'ers skill. Still going strong after all these years!

great yoyo
i love this yoyo. if your looking for a yoyo that is great to get into string tricks but is still responsive this is your yoyo. it sleeps from 45secs to 2mins it sleeps for maybe 15 to 25 secs on the string. this should be your 2nd or 3rd yoyo in terms of tricks because it is pretty responsive but not super responsive. it is not used for grinds so dont buy this if you want to grind. i highly recomend this so you can start off your string tricks. I give it 4 stars because once you have some string tricks down you will start looking on how to do advance tricks and you will try and try again but the maverick just wont take you their.

The Maverick is a good professional yoyo to buy....Its the best for string tricks and other advanced tricks....The only problem i had that my maverick didn't have a long sleeping time....i guess it varies product by product..otherwise it is a very good!!

My 12 year old son is doing all the ticks that he has been trying to do for ages on one of those cheap yoyos. He is very happy with his yoyo. Worth paying the extra for.

Awesome yoyo only one I use. Have literally played with one of these things for hundreds of hours before it got even slightly beat up. On the other hand if you grab both halves of the yoyo and overtighten the screw you can break it as previous review mentions. Just use your sense and don't overtighten and you shouldn't have an issue.
