Yoton MP3 Player with Bluetooth, Max 64GB, HiFi, Clip, TF Card Required

I'm writing this for anyone that is looking to replace a Sandisk Clip Sport. This is basically a Clip Sport stolen design, so it's going to be really close. I have a few Clip Sport mp3 players here. One of them won't charge anymore and I was looking for a cheap replacement. I have used those for many years and they are by far my fav's. This one "looks" like almost the same thing as you can tell. That's what got me first interested, but I didn't realize, until I got one, how close it actually is to a Clip Sport. A couple of menus and button functions ARE a little different. I have found the EQ doesn't work quite as well but it at least has an EQ feature. It does NOT hold any memory in the unit on the firmware but you have everything stored on the HD card so you can have several and swap them out or use whatever size HD card, 16g, 32g, (up to 128g). My Clip Sport players don't have bluetooth because I always wanted to have the option of the HD card (the sandisk with bluetooth doesn't have the HD card port so you're limited by its internal memory). The bluetooth on this Yoton works fine and that's a bonus. I'd still say the Sandisk is maybe a little bit easier to navigate, and that's because I'm used to using those for many years. All of this players features are in the main menu when you select radio, folder, music, etc, and with the Sandisk you can customize that by turning one or more of those OFF. With the Yoton it doesn't seem like there's an option so all of the main menu features are always on, but that's not a deal breaker, just sharing some differences I've noticed. Clearly some manufacturer had the internal design of the Clip Sport and simply made a few modifications to create this thing. I do like though that the headphone jack is at the TOP on this one. And it has a "power" button on the side instead of holding the central menu button down to power on/off--little things like that. The little pocket clip on the sandisk has a better spring in it but this one still works ok. Overall for this price it's likely the closest "copy" you'll find. It allowed me to simply drag-n-drop files, create my own folders, etc. I agree with another review here that the central function button could have been made easier to use and the Yoton doesn't have the LOCK feature, but again this is REALLY close to the Clip Sport and I'm very happy this purchase worked out as good as it did. I would say I was tempted to give it 4-stars LOL but I found an almost exact replacement for my favorite mp3 players WITH the bluetooth, and the prices being asked for a used or refurb Clip Sport are not fair, so the 5th "star" is a refection of my relief that I found a "decent copy" at a very cheap price.

After decades of walkman, discman, MP3 players that were impossible to work and unreliable, expensive phones these people have made the perfect device. Small, powerful, easy to navigate, stable/reliable, long battery life, high quality sound, simple to load your music. If you need more reasons to buy one I can not be of help. Oh! They are inexpensive, not cheap, just half or more cost than anything else we tried.

The Yoton MP3 Player works. It plays music, tells the time and date and has a very good battery life (especially if you use wired earphones). It can't do things that your smart phone can do, but it doesn't cost as much as a smart phone, either. The list of songs in a playlist doesn't show the lengths of the songs, because the screen is too small to show much of anything. The FM radio works well and the autotune function can save you lots of time by programming local stations automatically. (You must use wired earphones to get good reception.) The function buttons are nearly invisible. So, until you get used to them you will have a little difficulty finding the right place to press on the keypad. I put little white stickers on some of them to help me find them, and I might make a sticker on a Cricut to cover the whole keypad with appropriate symbols in appropriate locations. I use this player mostly for listening while I exercise. For that purpose, the clip is very helpful, since I can just clip the player to my clothes. It's very light weight and feels cheap, but I don't expect to throw it around so it should last a while. I can't tell how good the sound quality is, because I never could. Audiophiles who attach high-end headphones will probably tell you this player isn't very good, but if you can tell the difference while you're exercising, you need to work out harder.

Edit: My review (below) was initially only 2 stars but there's a new development that's made me change it to only one star. It's about a year and a half old and it's started creating static in songs that were initially perfect. The static is there whether I'm using wired earbuds or bluetooth. And the number of songs that it's happening to is increasing so the player is now in the trash. --- Original review: I like the fact that this player has so many buttons; navigation is simple. Bluetooth works great. But it's ridiculously complex to do basic stuff like pause or power off or change the volume. For example, if you're listening to music and the screen has gone black like it should, then: --to pause play, you have to hit the pause button, which wakes it up and shows the date/time screen, then you have to hit it again, which shows you the "playing now" screen, then you have to hit it again to pause it. -- there is an actual on/off button, but when it's playing and the screen has gone black, to turn it off you have to hit a button (any button) to get the date/time screen, hit it again to get to the "playing now" screen, then hit the power button to turn it off. It's a DEDICATED on/off button, but it takes three clicks to turn it off! -- to change volume is the worst. When it's playing and the screen is black, hit any button to get to the date/time screen, then any button to get to the "playing now" screen, then hit one of the volume buttons to show the volume slider screen. This DOESN'T change the volume! THEN you have to hit the volume button again to change the volume. It's a DEDICATED volume button but it still takes 4 clicks to change the volume! If by chance you've never used an MP3 player in your life, then to compare this to my Sandisk Clip... To pause play, no matter what, you hit the pause button one time and it stops. To turn it off, you hold down the play button for 2 seconds and it turns off. The volume buttons you have to hit twice: once to wake it up and then again to change the volume. (Yeah, I wanted to buy another Sandisk Clip but couldn't find any.)

You just can't beat this MP3 Player's features for the price. I previously had a Victure MP3 player and it lasted 6 years of daily play and wear and tear. The Yoton is similar aesthetically. You have the same button functionality. Power On/Off, Volume Up/Down, and buttons on the front that allow you to play/pause, Go back to start (no rewind search), Go to next track (no fast forward search). There is also a menu button and return button. I want to applaud the pleasing click and durability of the buttons. My previous model did not have this and this is an upgrade. The buttons make the operation of the MP3 player easy to use. The MP3 player has the all-important clip. The device is small enough, and light enough, that you can clip it to your shirt, shorts/pants, or even a bag on the outside to it is easy to find and make adjustments. It is so light, that you might accidentally leave it connected to an article of clothing after a dog walk or workout. The Bluetooth is greatly improved over my previous model. I primarily use three devices to connect with Bluetooth. Once connected, they re-connect seamlessly. The only flaw with the Bluetooth is that when you power on the device, the Bluetooth starts up immediately. This is convenient for those who only use Bluetooth devices. Pro tip: If you didn't know, using wired headphones or a wired connection to a speaker will make your device's power last so much longer. I don't remember the details, but I can confirm the validity of this. I have used the device daily for a morning 45 minute walk, listen during feeding my dog and making breakfast, commute to work, and sometimes at work for longer than half my shift, and the commute home. So far, the device has never gotten even close to being out of power with wired headphones. I have even gone a few days with the same use and the only reason I charged it was to load music. 2nd Pro Tip: Wired headphones sound better on this device than the previous model. With Bluetooth I listen at 25/31 and when using wired headphones I listen at 8/31. The sound is far more robust than the previous model and you still get the ability to adjust the EQ to preferred levels. The display is different than the previous model and I needed time to adjust. Eventually the difference did not matter. You get a notification that the sim card is inserted, Bluetooth is connected, the power level, the EQ setting, track #/# of tracks, Clip art, whether you are playing straight, shuffle (yes it is there), or repeat, Track Name, time signature and length of song, and indicators for Back, Play, and Forward. When you power on you get a standard home screen with product name and customer service pledge. Getting to the shuffle takes some practice, but once you find it, it works well. The other main upgrade to this model is the inclusion of the sim card that gives you an amazing amount of space. However, I suggest not trying to load it to the hilt. I tried that and it affected the functionality of the device and it eventually froze up. I had a couple of frustrating days of trying to troubleshoot the device with customer service through email only. I was not savy enough to upgrade the firmware, but the manufacturer sent me a new device. I have been more conservative with the amount of music I have loaded on to the device since then. I still have 3 times the amount of music loaded that the previous model could hold without a sim card and it is not even halfway full. You can tinker with what works for you. Overall, it has been an incredible upgrade and I got it for less than $30. I have paid more and gotten less on fancier devices. The size, sound, bluetooth, and storage makes this an unbeatable option. If you want your music, audiobooks, podcast, etc. without interrupting adds, notifications, etc. This is a great choice and absolutely the most bang for your buck! The longer I used it, the more I came to fully appreciate it. I have used it for three months solid daily. I will more than likely buy several more to load for specific playlists, genre, etc. I am very happy with this product and recommend it for the value and quality I have enjoyed all summer.

OK, so, you get 64 GB of storage for $20, and it's easy to load songs onto. This is actually pretty darn good. The bluetooth works OK, though like with many devices, you'll get occasional, what I call, "dropouts." I did find these happened less than they do on my Pixel Watch, so that's definitely a plus. So, where does it go wrong? Basically, the interface. You have to manually turn Bluetooth back on, and that's a couple menu levels deep. Also, it doesn't shuffle by default. Every time you want to shuffle you have to first play your songs, listen to that first song play, click the menu button, and navigate a couple menu levels deep to turn on shuffle, then back out to the song screen and hit next. The pedometer is a nice addition, and is somewhat accurate, but it seems you have to stick to the pedometer app to keep it going. Maybe there's a way around this, but it's definitely not intuitive. Also, it's not very loud. I found I had to turn the volume all the way up to get to about mid level volume of my phone. If there was a way to program this I'd probably enjoy trying to make a better interface, but it is what it is.

I only recently got it and have not fully explored it. But the sound is very good. The EQ is good (more on this later). It is very small, very light, the screen is good (although as I get older, my eyesight gets worse, and it is starting to get difficult to read the very small text). So far, very good. It is essentially a Sansa Clip with a little bit nicer look and feel to it. I still have my Sansa clip (from about 2010). It finally died on me, so I did some research and found that this Yoton is essentially a clone of the Sansa Clip. [Not sure why, but my Sansa Clip is working again. Maybe it realized it was about to be replaced, and fought back.] Anyway... downsides: does NOT come with any internal memory or micro-SD card (that's OK because they are so inexpensive and readily available), the EQ is only available when in play mode which is rather confusing. While waiting for my micro-SD card to arrive, I was fiddling with my Yoton and getting very annoyed because I could not find the EQ settings. It says on Amazon, on their own website, etc. that is comes default with EQ. Why can't I find it? I looked at the very scant "manual" and could not find anything about the EQ. Maybe I overlooked it. Maybe that is on me. Turns out, you MUST have the micro-SD installed with some music on it so that you can go into play mode (it can be paused) and suddenly the menus change and "tada" the EQ is right there. MAYBE they could have mentioned that in the so-called manual. That is my biggest gripe. So... since my biggest gripe was poor documentation... I give this a big thumbs up (but cannot give it a 5). Super small, light, quick to charge, (I haven't tested the battery life), sounds very good, the EQ is good (not great but quite good), looks good, feels smooth in the hand with nice tactile buttons. I highly recommend. UPDATE: I am moving this up to a 5. I sent an email before I had figured out about the EQ (and, to be honest, found the info in the very minimalist manual that I overlooked. My bad.). They replied within about a day with the answer. I sent back a thank you. They sent a follow-up email asking if all was well and thanking me for buying their product. OK, excellent customer service, and it was prompt. Now I give 5 stars.

Love it. Easy to use. Comes with cable, earbuds and instruction booklet. no tf card though, buy separate. Good sound quality. Small and well designed. I would buy again.

Non è touch screen e questo per me è un vantaggio contro azioni non volute. Durata batteria adeguata, menù da migliorare ma utilizzabile. Io mi trovo bene.

Bewertung: 5 von 5 Sternen Ich bin von dem kleinen Player absolut begeistert. Was mich richtig umgehauen hat, ist die Akkulaufzeit: Das Teil hält gefühlt ewig durch, das hätte ich in der Preisklasse niemals erwartet. Durch den SD-Karten-Slot hat man zudem unendlich Speicherplatz für die eigene Musiksammlung. Ich nutze den Player klassisch über Klinke mit meinen JBL-Kopfhörern (ohne Bluetooth) – die Lautstärke und der Klang für so ein kleines Gerät sind wirklich genial. Ein winziges Manko gibt es bei der Bedienung: Die Tasten reagieren recht empfindlich. Wenn man aus Versehentlich falsch drückt, landet man schnell in einem anderen Menü statt im Player-Bildschirm. Wenn man das Gerät in der Hosentasche oder am Gürtel trägt, muss man da etwas aufpassen. Für mich ist das aber meckern auf hohem Niveau und absolut zu verschmerzen. Ein klasse Begleiter für unterwegs! Fazit: Für den Preis ein absoluter Kracher. Würde ich definitiv wieder kaufen!

This thing is class. I have Apple music and YouTube music and Spotify and both a a iPhone Pro and a flagship Android for work, but the issue I had with them is that pretty much all headphones now have the ability to easily call someone by mistake with a single butten press or earbud press. I like to listen to tracks going to sleep, and on a couple of occasions mistakenly called people at like 3am when I rolled over and and my earbud pressed againt the pillow - not ideal if it's your boss or work colleague! So I figured a more basic listening device was needed that just played music and couldn't activate random features on my phone. Was initially looking at high-end devices as that is what I usually go for, like the new Sony Walkman etc. which are like a few hundred quid. But decided to see what was about at the lower end that did the minimum that I needed, as for the sake of £25 it doesn't really matter if it doesn't work, but if it does than happy days, so worth a try. I've been really impressed by this little player, the in-ear haedphones that come with is are 100% and are the ones I use as standard, although I did also try my bluetooth earbuds with it and it connects straight away - the bluetooth on this thing actually connects far faster than either my iPhone 16 Pro or my Samsung s22 Ultra. It comes with a little 64gig memory card which is loads for mp3s and has physical buttons which all work easily, although are a bit small - I'm 6 foot and have big enough hands, but its still easy enough to use. Super light, has a wee clip for sticking onto your shirt or pocket or whatever and the sound quality is 100%. I'm not an audiofile or anything, but it's dead on for me, and I'm usually listening to music on a set of Yamaha reference monitors in my studio, so I do enjoy good sound. It also has a few extra features that I like, as long as the wired headphones are plugged in, it has an fm radio and also a voice recorder which is surprisingly clear - I'd say it is at least as good, if not better than the voice recorder on either my iPhone or Samsung. Also has a pedometer which is unusual and I havn't bothered using, but it's on there if you want it. I'm on a Mac and it just shows up as an external drive when you plug it in, so just add your mp3s as folders i.e. keep each album or playlist you want in a separate folder when saving to the mp3 player drive, and then you can play the folders on the player, all pretty easy. Its very light weight, seems decently built for the price. I've had it about 3 weeks now, I'd say as long as you don't do anything stupid it should last forever, but its unlikley to survive one of your kids walking on it or throwing it out of the car window, I'd also say it's unlikly to be very waterproof, so I wouldn't have it clipped onto a t-shirt and go running in the rain, but if its in your pocket it should be fine and in fact would be an excellent device for running becuase it is so light. Very impressed by this little player for the price, which you can tell from the long review, and would 100% recommend. Only reason not to get it, is if you want streaming or internet access etc. but in that case you might as well just use your phone.

The battery on my old Oakcastle MP3 player started to deteriorate after many years so it was time for a replacement. This Yoton MP3 player appears to hit most of my requirements. Small, clips on clothing, easy to use buttons (a touchscreen would be useless for me if I have dirty hands or wearing gloves), high memory storage (mine came with 64Mb card instead of 32Mb), good battery life (using wired headphones), the latest USB-C power connector, and easy to use menu system. I use it in the garden, on the train etc. Good sound quality and the supplied in ear headphones are a pleasant surprise from the usual cheap headphones. It doesn't appear to have a sound Equaliser function and the power lock function just turns off the screen and doesn't lock the buttons (in case you accidentally touch the buttons) but these are minor negatives for me. It was good value for money which is a bonus.
