The wiring is intuitive: plug the long receiver unit cable into the input; plug the repeater module into the output; plug the unit into an outlet; attach the repeater module anywhere near the front of the unit you want controlled. Therefore, it does not play well with third party universal remotes. I use the Ensigear with a Logitech Harmony Ultimate One and it works perfectly on every button push. The instructions however are pretty weak and do not clearly show which side of the receiver should face forward. There are two small protrusions on one side of the receiver; those are the receiver lenses and should face the user. Although it does not come with a USB cable for power, I had a spare one lying around and use it to power the Ensigear via the USB port on the back of the XG1. This allowed me eliminate the need for the AC power adapter (which is included with the Ensigear).
