Ancient Secrets Quest for the Golden Key (PC CD)

The Anti-Virus package I run has detected "Trojan-PSW.win32.Ldpinch.apswc" on the CD in the install program on the CD at Ancient Secrets.exe. Please be careful.

Love these types of games. Shame the company hasn't brought them up to date with computers, as one of the ones I already have keeps crashing and I am presuming that it is because my computer specs are higher than the games' specs

This is a click and point adventure game with hidden object scenes and puzzles and is clearly designed for a very young demographic. Having said this, although it is very basic in it's game play, it is still enjoyable whatever age you are. The artwork is stylised if unsophisticated but still very good as are the simple animations. Everything is very clearly drawn except for the items in the hidden object scenes, some of which are very difficult to find. There is no hint button however the items themselves occasionally give off a single glint which is very difficult to spot but if you stare at the screen for long enough you can catch them. As in all click and point adventures the object is to travel between areas, interact with other characters and solve problems. In this game it is all very basic and relatively undemanding as it has been designed for children but it does serve as an enjoyable introduction to the genre for any age group. There are many mini games and puzzles and all are pretty easy. The most common is a version of `blocks' which increase in difficulty through the game and the others include matching pairs, tile swap, jigsaws, peg solitaire, noughts and crosses and more. Near the end there are task solving puzzles which are reminiscent of scenes from the Indiana Jones and Fifth Element films. The package is made complete by the simple music score and sound effects which really compliment the artwork and game play. This game has a lot of positive points including the good artwork and a plethora of enjoyable puzzles but, on the negative side is it's simplicity and child-like game play. Together with the fact that it is also quite short (I played it in only a few hours) I could only give it 3 stars.

This is a good hidden object game with well thought out puzzles to solve along the way. While I would have said it was aimed at a children's market I found some of the puzzles pretty challenging, it is a game I would play more than once as all the puzzles reset, unlike some games I have played. Well illustrated and very colourful, overall a good buy.

totally stuck on slider mini game therefore can't proceed with the main game. No hints available and no way to avoid the mini puzzle game

This was the first of these kind of games that I've tried, and although it was fun and got more difficult towards the end, I found it a bit short (finished in two evenings) and a little bit too easy.

Brilliant game, very pleased with the item. It came in no time at all. Love these Luxor games. They are very addictive!

I completed this game today. I've taken my time playing it. It's for children but it's definitely challenging, especially the moving block segments and when you have to move the pins over each other and only leave one. Graphics are all right as well. Starts off easy and gets more difficult as you go. I'd recommend it. :)
