Review: Excellent VFR kneeboard. sturdy, practical, and pilot‑friendly - The ASA KB‑1‑A aluminum VFR kneeboard is a solid choice for student and general aviation pilots. It feels sturdy and well‑built, with a durable aluminum base that stays flat and doesn’t flex while you’re flying. The quick‑reference flight data printed right on the board is handy, saving time and keeping important numbers right in front of you. The clip holds charts and notes securely, and the overall layout makes it easy to organize flight plans and checklists in real time. It’s simple, effective, and much better than flimsy plastic or fabric alternatives. A great kneeboard that’s practical, tough, and very pilot‑friendly.
Review: It's a metal kneeboard. - Not much else to say -- performs as advertised. Used a clipboard before? Congrats, you'll know how to use this high tech bit of kit! All the VFR info is a nice touch, but obviously a little hard to read once you have a notepad on it. It would be good to have in a pinch though. Overall it is about the size of an iPad Air/Pro 11 inch. I usually sit with the seat all the way forward in a C172 and the yoke has never hit it, even on takeoff/landing or in performance maneuvers like stalls. There is not much adjustability on the band due to the relatively short length of the velcro patch. That sucks a tad if you have thin distance runner thighs like I do, but for most it is probably fine. It stays put perfectly well while flying, but if I forget to remove it and exit the cockpit while wearing the kneeboard, it quickly becomes and ankleboard. Awkward. The pen holder loop is again a good thought but a bit silly in practice -- I think you'd spend more time trying to put the pen back into it than you would using the pen to get the latest ATIS. I fly with my pen in the arm pocket of my flight jacket for this very reason, but if you don't fly in old Air Force regalia, YMMV. Overall a solid product, cheap, and a great starter for someone just entering flight school like I was. You can always upgrade to something else later!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long is the velco strap (how thick of a thigh could it work with)?**
A: It’s 3/4” wide

**Q: Is the clip strong enough to hold an iPad?**
A: It is not.

Get a kneeboard designed to securely hold the tablet for not only its protection but also to not allow a heavier, loose object to become free in the cabin.

**Q: Does the strip adjustable for the leg? because the picture didn't show how this would be adjustable.**
A: It's a Velcro fastener so it's adjustable by how tight you make the Velcro fastener.

**Q: Is the pen holder reversible so that this can be worn on either the right or left leg?**
A: Yes it is. It is part of the strap and can be removed and installed in reverse to get the pen holder on the other side. Good product and useful.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent kneeboard even well into commercial flight training
*by D***Y on September 18, 2024*

I bought this after watching a ton of videos and reading online of everything I needed to begin my flight training. Some of the items I've realized I didn't actually need, but this kneeboard is not one of those. I fly with this kneeboard on every single flight I go on with a pad of paper secured by the clamp and a Pilot G-2 (aka the best pen in the world) hooked in with the pen slot. The information can be useful if you can find the time to read what is on it. I'd fly with this kneeboard and pad of paper over having an iPad any day.
