## Overview

Avoca The Complete Wart & Verruca Treatment uses a silver nitrate-based applicator that dissolves in water or body fluid to precisely target and remove warts and verrucas. Designed for gentle application with light pressure, it protects surrounding skin with a barrier and promotes gradual removal of treated tissue. Ideal for professional-quality, at-home skin care with a simple, stepwise process.

## Description

Much of the following guide applies to use with body fluid but is written for use with water. One drop of water is sufficient to treat two square inches of tissue. Place a single drop of water, or more if required, on a clean non-absorbent surface such as an upturned drinking glass or stainless steel container. Gently stir the tip of a pencil/applicator in the drop of water for about 20 to 30 seconds. Silver nitrate from the tip is quickly dissolved in the water. Although the appearance of the water does not change, it is now rich in silver nitrate and any absorbent material (clothing, furniture etc.) that comes into contact with this water will turn black in time depending on exposure to light. There is no need to move quickly or finish within a certain time. Silver nitrate will continue to be dissolved as long as the unused tip remains in contact with water or body fluid. Touch the area to be treated with the wet tip so that silver nitrate solution is transferred to the area to be treated. Use light pressure, do not press or rub the area with the tip – silver nitrate is brittle and may break if too much pressure is applied. If the tip breaks, make sure you recover all pieces. Tweezers are the best way to do this. If the tip falls off, it can still be dissolved in water by holding it with tweezers. Take care to prevent solution wandering on to neighbouring skin by protecting the surrounding tissue with a barrier such as petroleum jelly. Transfer enough solution to cover all the area being treated. Allow the treated area to dry. After drying, treated granulation tissue will fall away. Repeat for remaining overgranulation. The treated surface layer of warts and verrucas should be filed away using a fine emery board, for some types of verruca it will be necessary to cut away the hard callous-like surface to get to the soft tissue underneath. Repeat this treatment for remaining wart/verruca tissue until the wart/verruca has gone.

## Features

- Use light pressure, do not press or rub the area with the tip – silver nitrate is brittle and may break if too much pressure is applied. Silver nitrate must not be used on genital warts or near eyes.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Use it like its real liquid gold!!
*by T***L on 5 October 2020*

I bought this as i couldn't go to podiatrist during covid. But i remembered she last used some silver stuff to treat me.Skeptically I purchased this. Read the instructions. At first i made a mess and did end up with black bits . The second attempt i was better with application but it still smudged and i was left with more black bits. The 3rd time i got a little better. After each application the wart area will turn black over a few hours. Then it will harden. After a week or two I used a sterlised blade to gentle cut the hard skin off. Oh it was soo good to see that crap slowly lift off. (Don't try this at home)I have used the product 3 times in 3 months and my wart has gone. Before this I spent money buying freeze treatments from boots costing £20 a time. I then spent money to see podiatrist £30 a time so its been about 3 years...! And finally after using this i can now finally walk barefoot freely. Except in changing rooms never walking bare in changing rooms again! I shower in my flipflops in places thats not home. It's made me so paranoid!Oh and i say use this like its liquid gold because i think we over do it as the prorduct is cheap. But you ought to literally use less than 1 drop of water. all you need is half a drop of water on a wart. Its invisible at first so don't over do it. You can't layer this on as the fluid isn't absorbed by the skin so the more you apply the bigger your stain will be. (See picture) theres one drop of water and even then that was too much. Soak the nib in the drop for 20 seconds then lift nip and draw a dot on your wart. And thats it wait to dry. Put a sock on after its dry don't apply a plaster as it'll spread the liquid and in a few days you'll see a bigger black dot than you wanted. But be patient and use little amounts and trust me it works.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's not the product's fault, it's how you use it
*by C***D on 31 August 2017*

Problems that people have with this are largely down to education. My mother was a chiropodist and I have a chemistry background, so I do have some knowledge of this stuff. Most of the problems I've read here in reviews are caused from not understanding the product. The "pencil" is made of silver nitrate, which is caustic when applied to the skin. The skin turns black, and the top layer dies and will eventually exfoliate (flake away) either naturally or by using an emery board. Because it's caustic, it may sting slightly when applied but this is nothing to worry about. Silver nitrate is also very soluble, so if it gets too wet the tip of the pencil will just dissolve or disintegrate. You only need to moisten it with a drop of water - it's all that's needed. Do not over-wet it and do not use pressure when using it.I actually bought this to get rid of a skin tag (a small hanging mole) on my neck which used to catch on shirt collars and become sore. I just touched the moistened tip onto the tag once, and repeated this the next day. A week later the blackened and now shrivelled-up tag just dropped off, and now there's nothing to show it was ever there. Warts and verrucas are just other forms of skin you want to get rid of, although with them you will probably need to repeat the treatment, filing off the dead surface skin and re-applying.It is very easy to get silver nitrate and hence black marks on your skin if you're not really careful. Be precise. You can try protecting the surrounding skin by smearing it with Vaseline. If you do get black marks where you don't want them, there's nothing you can do - only time will get rid of them, in a few weeks, as the skin naturally exfoliates.Do not confused a silver nitrate pencil with a "styptic" pencil, which is intended to stop minor bleeds from cuts or nicks. A silver nitrate pencil is a "caustic" pencil intended to kill skin; perhaps it might stop a minor bleed if you're lucky but that's not what it's intended for and it may well be painful!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does Work

Picked up a verruca at the gym and used the silver nitrate 'pen' to burn it away, it went and never returned.
