No it does not. Game boy colours are +AA batteries. They go in the back :)

Does the age of the console effect the gameplay?

As long as you accept that graphics have got better, since this game boy, then no! I don’t think age matters. My 10year old grandson is quite happy playing on it, although he has more modern “gadgets”.

Does it come with its original box?

I wish. No, only the console comes. The console is genuine though.
