Metroid Prime
Metroid : One of the three great Nintendo franchises (along side Zelda & Mario) has obviously had its fair share of versions. The NES, SNES, GB and GBA all had their versions, now theirs the GCN version, the first 3D Metroid.GraphicsHats off to Retro Studios, this is one of the best looking games on the GameCube. The level of detail is just astounding, rain catches on your visor, ice freezes on it and steam condensates up. Water runs off it if you come out of water too quickly, its just so nice to look at. The map is probably THE best map Ive ever seem, its just so well done and clear. The morph ball has a mass and will roll down slopes and you can see the skeleton of Samus' hand when you use the X-Ray visor, its just so well done.SoundDPL2 supported means doors close behind you, the beam fire runs in front of you down a corridor, pickups can be heard with pin-point accuracy (more on that later)The music sets the mood perfectly as well, weather your in battle with an enemy, in the ice area or fire area, it just fits so well.GameplayIt will take you roughly 20 hours first play through to complete this, the same for a 100% rating second time through, there are a few GBA unlockables (NES Metroid & the suit from the GBA version which is nice to look at in 3D.) Pickups are a plenty and make a funny buzzing noise whenever your near them, this helps to find out where they are and its obviously easier to find them with DPL2.Replay valueThis is where Metroid Prime falls short. Enemies follow set patterns which are easy to remember, nice to through a second time to marvel at the detail, but this is usually isn't till a few months after.OverallA very well put together game that's only flaw is replay ability.

Nintendo... How low can you go...
This game has to be THE WORST game I have ever played in my life. The gameplay is crap. The storyline is crap. The whole game is crap.Firstly, the graphics are quite impressive, but your character is a cartoon, and the landscape is not. It just looks wierd...Secondly, the idea and storyline. You're just a person in a massive and rediculus-looking robot costume with a laser beam that is used for opening doors and killing aliens. Lame or What? And you just travel around the different planets killing things.Thirdly, the gameplay. IT IS CRAP!!! The laser beam (that lasts forever) takes about ten hits to kill one enemy. It is also basically impossible to beat. I completed it on easy with a lot of difficulty, and am never playing it again.COME ON NINTENDO!

Great Game
I played this and it's ok the thing that will make you into it it's the graphics of this awesome game all the monster's that you fight they look so real that you can't belive it like the Metroids, Space Pirates they all look wicked.Downside is the fact you need to scan items which can be a chore to the game and boring to do at times I'am not into the scaning thing but it will help you out in the areas where you need to go to.Sounds of the game sound pretty well nice to some sounds that they added to the game.Overall this game is long will take ages to do with so many nice designs of levels.I would give it more than 5 stars.

Yes, Yes, YES!
A lot of people i know seem to like mouthing off about this game, but whenever they've sat watching it for an hour or so, they find themselves giving me helpful suggestions or gawping at the cool graphics. That's the thing that makes this so great; you walk round in circles for ages well stuck and when you work it out, you're thinking "wow, this is actually a really, really good game".Plus, it plays like no other game. Glancing at the screenshots you may think it looks like any other first person game with monsters, but shooting things just doesn't dominate this game. You spend more of your time exploring, trying to survive a harsh environment and unraveling the mysteries of a lost civilisation. And doing all that stuff is really good fun as well, and bloody hard in places. Both Metroid Primes are absolute gems that stand out in the world of modern games as two of the most intelligent by far, but buy this one first and i promise if you give it the time, when you finish it you'll be rushing out to buy the sequal before you can say Samus! Buy buy buy!

very atmospheric but ....
I loved this game from beginning to almost the very end. it keeps you engaged al the way through and the way the bosses get harder and harder is great. the only problem is that when i hit the end boss i found that i was so lacking in missiles etc that i had no chance and died repeatedly. i love challenging games(ninja gaiden being the best!) but this the last level just seemed to suck all the fun out of what had gone before it. i play games for fun, not to get so wound up that i swear never to play a game again(which is what happened here!). play it, enjoy it, but be prepared!!!!
