I bought this to see the salt level and compare it to the other readings. It arrived calibrated so I turned in on and placed in the pool. The values stabilize quickly, maybe in 15 seconds. The salt value was 100ppm less than chlorinator. Much closer than the pool store's value. Also the pH reading was within a tenth of the expensive test kit we have and the pool store's value. It is much easier to read the pH value on this instead of the test strips. The temperature reading is a nice extra too. I didn't need this but it agrees, with a tenth of a degree, of the thermometers I have. Very pleased with the this tester. Review: Checks salt pool levels - Why did you pick this product vs others?: Needed an accurate salt reading the strips were giving bad readings. Everything else on the strip was accurate.
