Sigma 62mm WR Protector Filter

For basic lens protection this is a great filter. With it's low profile and quality glass you do not realize it is on the lens. Does not interfere with a Sigma lens hood. I really like the one-size-fits-all plastic case that comes with Sigma filters. You don't have to dig around in your gear to find the case specific to the filter that you wan't to store. My consumer confidence in Sigma increases with every purchase.

It does its job without compromising image quality in any way.

It's so clear that I forget it's on. No glare or other issues (though I admittedly shoot with a hood on most of the time). I can't comment on protection, and I hope I never learn about its ability to protect.

Although my heart sank when I first opened the box, it turned out fine. There were three large smudges on the lens that were quite difficult to get off but I removed them eventually with the cleaning kit I had. At first they looked like scratches. The box was a bit dinged up. It's a happy ending, all worked out and it seems to be a flawless protection for my lens. I feel much safer taking my camera out now!

I was persuaded to give these a try by a camera store when I bought a new lens. I'd originally wanted the manufacturer's own protector which was considerably more expensive. I saw no effect on picture quality at all, even zooming in at 1:1 pixel peeping I was totally happy with the photos. When I upgraded another lens, a shorter telephoto zoom, it was an easy choice to get one of these for it. If I mark or damage it its not the end of the world, unlike the front element on the lens!
