It is from China and the roller is magnetic but, without a material analysis I don't know what it's made from. It does, for what it is, work well and has been very helpful in the shop. **Q: is the roller supported by a ball bearing?** A: It doesn't feel like it has bearings but it rotates freely. Cons are machine tolerance for T bolts to loose and roller mount allow to much movement. The wrench that is included for assembly is to short to be of use and your a tool company.
