### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Good Mic, Especially for the Price, Learn Its Limitations
*by S***E on March 2, 2025*

This Wonzeal lav microphone is quite good, especially for the price, although it does have a couple of limitations that you might want to know about, which will make your audio recording easier and better. This mic comes with a "Quick Start" Guide written in English, and 5 additional languages. It was helpful ... you'll benefit from reading through it. There are only TWO buttons on the transmitter to push ... but a "press" is different than a "long press" is different from a "double press." So make sure you know which "press" to use on which button. This lav mic comes very handily with TWO transmitters ... and ONE receiver ... so, if you want, you can record TWO different people .. on TWO different audio tracks. Some people don't need this, but if you like doing interviews, you can use a separate microphone from the person you're interviewing ... and then make changes to JUST one or the other audio track ... in post.I tested this microphone indoors and out of doors, with the wind screen "on" ... and "off," with the noise reducer "on" and "off," and holding the microphone in my hand, about 4 inches directly in front of my mouth, vs. clipping the microphone on the upper part of my shirt, directly under my chin. I had the receiver plugged into my Windows 11 Laptop computer and recorded the audio with the Windows 11 "Sound Recorder." Here are my results:Generally, the audio quality was quite good, and, depending on your audio or video editing software (I use the paid version of Davinci Resolve), a few improvements in the sound could easily be made.Wind Muff: I've run many test of many different microphones over the last couple of years. Using a pop filter / wind muff is very consistently a good idea, and it is with this Wonzeal microphone, as well. The wind muffs that are included with these microphone are more than adequate ... and don't be messing around with the muffs ... or scuffing past them with your hands ... when you're recording, as that sound will certainly be picked up. But to noticeably reduce the effect of wind noise past your microphones, even these inexpensive wind muffs will work fine, and will be worth the trouble to use them.Having said that, with this particular microphone, the wind muff doesn't fit onto the top of the transmitter very tightly, and can fall off easily, possibly getting lost. So watch out for your wind muffs closely. Also, when the wind muffs are connected to the top of the transmitter, the bottom of the muff covers the transmitter / receiver "connection" light ... that stays lighted when the transmitter is CONNECTED to the receiver. SoooOOOooo ... with the wind muff ON, you can't actually SEE whether you are connected or not to the receiver. If you go too far away from the receiver ... or have a more "solid" surface between you and the receiver (a restaurant stone wall, in my case) you can LOSE your connection with the receiver ... not know it ... and just keep talking, but recording nothing. It seems to me that a simple enough design would have been to position the indicator lights on the transmitter in such a way that the wind muff does NOT block them. What good is an indicator light if you can't see it, right?Noise Reducer: In my testing, when the NR was "on," the audio volume was just noticeably lower, as was the extraneous noise - music, kitchen noise and people talking inside of a restaurant, in my case, and standing outside in a mostly quiet parking lot, with some traffic driving past at about 40 mph. The overall quality of my voice was more dependent on where I was standing, than the external noise, unless, of course, there was a LOT of noise, then the NR is a "must." But, really, if there's THAT much noise, you should probably be looking for a quieter place to record. If you know how to adjust and improve your audio in post, you might find the audio that gets recorded to be "better" with the NR "off."Wireless Connection: I received this wireless microphone with a partially charged battery, so I could get up and running right away. I plugged in the receiver to my laptop, turned the transmitter "on," and they connected straight away, without my having to muss or fuss with anything else. However ... I did definitely find that the transmitter and the receiver MUST be in "line of sight" to each other ... or you definitely risk NOT recording ... when you think you ARE recording. The connection that I had would not go through a stone wall or around the back side of the building. It would barely ... not adequately ... go through a thick double pane window glass about 30 paces away, with direct line of sight. So, for your particular needs, be sure and test your connection, first, so you can make SURE you're actually RECORDING before you go through your whole presentation ... or interview ... and NOT have it properly recorded. When the transmitter and receiver make a good connection, the audio that gets recorded is quite good.USB-C connector: is a standard USB-C connector. But, it's too short to plug into the USB-C connector on my Android phone with the case still ON the phone. This is why I ran my tests recording into my laptop computer, sitting on the table, rather than my Android phone, that could come with me on my journey and not risk losing the wireless connection. I totally wish there would be included ... even a SMALL ... "extension cord ... with JUST the USB-C connector on it, that would fit into the slot of my phone, without requiring that I remove the entire case.Holding the mic in my hand while recording: This microphone performed especially well with this test, at least as compared with about 10 other microphones I've tested. For recording a human voice, the audio often sounds a "deeper" and "fuller," ... they call it "radio voice," when the microphone is held 4-6 inches directly in front of your mouth, as opposed to clipping the mic onto your shirt or hat. But, generally any extra "handling" of the mic that isn't VERY careful, can cause a bunch of extra "racket" on your audio. I "shuffled" this mic from one hand to the other ... and even rubbed my fingers across the mic a bit. DON'T do this when you're recording "for real," but ... if you DO, this mic will at least be more forgiving than a lot of mics.LED Lights on the Transmitter: can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. And the "connection" light is impossible to see with the wind muff ON the top of the transmitter.Overall Conclusion of this Mic: This is a good wireless mic, especially for the price. Do yourself a favor and read through the instructions, and PRACTICE with this mic several times before you actually use it "for real." Learn what you and the mic can and can't do, and you'll save yourself a lot of time and headache.
