The Great Gatsby: F. Scott Fitzgerald (Penguin Modern Classics)

Ordered for my daughter’s A-levels just what she needs so she can annotate her own copy. She’s really enjoying the book.

It's a short book but a brilliant one. I'd always meant to read it but never got around to it. Following an invite to a 20s themed fancy dress party I thought I'd read it for inspo. Definitely recommend, and I'll certainly read it again sometime.

amazing for a-levels

It's more clear in person than in the photo, but the printing of the text is strangely thick, and it varies quite a bit throughout the text, so the text looks thinner at times and thicker at other times. I have seen another version of the same book by the same publisher with the same ISBN, which has a more standard font thickness (no clue where they got it from or why it's different) but this version that I received potentially might be not the most dyslexia friendly, I've included a photo so you can see before purchase. I find it adds to the vibe though so it personally works for me. As for the text itself, after reading it I think The Great Gatsby is probably now one of my favourite classics ever, there's just so much to unpack and it's really absorbing. I would definitely recommend this book, but would advise you to pick a copy that suits your needs. Hope this is helpful 👍
