Crafted by Viarco, a trusted name in premium drawing materials since 1911, it’s perfect for painting, sketching, calligraphy, and plein air work. ## Description Inspired by traditional tailor's chalk, Art Graf Tailor Shape is a rich, water-soluble square of pigment. It is extremely soft and provides artists with a wide range of shades depending on the amount of water use. Create light, transparent tones or deep, rich, opaque colors. When diluted, the Tailor's Shape acts similarly to an ink. It can also be used dry as a drawing medium by itself and is erasable. Each disc can be used as an entire block to draw or paint with or color can be picked up from the block with a brush, similarly to how you would use traditional watercolor paint. Mix blocks to create an infinite array of colors. Each disc measures 1 3/4 x 2 inches. Made by Viarco in Portugal since 1907. ## Features - ARTIST WATER-SOLULBLE PIGMENTED TAILOR SHAPE - Draw & paint on a whole new level with this portable artist tool in a rich Graphite color - USE WET OR DRY - The square tailor chalk shape is perfect for painting, drawing, sketching and can even be used to create beautiful calligraphy ink - RICH INTENSELY PIGMENTED COLORS - Artists can create a wide range of shades from light transparent hues to rich, deep opaque colors - IDEAL FOR PAINTING OR DRAWING - Inspired by traditional tailor's chalk, each disc measures 1-3/4" x 2" and is the perfect artist tool for studio and plein air use - MADE BY VIARCO - A company that has been producing premium drawing materials since 1911 ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B01MRZSKUU | | Additional Features | Erasable | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Best Sellers Rank | #33,903 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ( See Top 100 in Arts, Crafts & Sewing ) #63 in Drawing Chalk | | Body Shape | Square | | Brand Name | ArtGraf | | Color | Graphite | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars (368) | | Drill Point | wide | | Global Trade Identification Number | 05601470506136 | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Hardness | Soft | | Ink Base | Hybrid | | Ink Color | Multicolor | | Item Diameter | 1.75 inches | | Item Dimensions | 2.5 x 2 x 0.5 inches | | Item Type Name | Square Disc | | Item Weight | 18.14 g | | Manufacturer | Art Graf | | Material Type | graphite | | Model Name | Art Graf Water-soluble Tailors Chalk | | Model Number | 500506 | | Recommended Uses For Product | artistic drawing and painting, calligraphy, plein air painting, sketching | | Style | Portable | | Theme | Art | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Writing Instrument Form | Chalk | ## Product Details - **Age Range (Description):** Adult - **Brand:** ArtGraf - **Color:** Graphite - **Ink Color:** Multicolor - **Writing Instrument Form:** Chalk ## Images ![Art Graf Water-Soluble Tailors Chalk Square Disc, Graphite - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61xb-cquKtL.jpg) ![Art Graf Water-Soluble Tailors Chalk Square Disc, Graphite - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41s-xRpglGL.jpg) ![Art Graf Water-Soluble Tailors Chalk Square Disc, Graphite - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41db3PUMTGL.jpg) ![Art Graf Water-Soluble Tailors Chalk Square Disc, Graphite - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41n5BO3A25L.jpg) ![Art Graf Water-Soluble Tailors Chalk Square Disc, Graphite - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41Gb9LoDlML.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Is this the same product than the one that comes in a tin? Thank you!** A: I would think its raw material (graphite) is the same. The differences is how users (artists/sketchers) use them. If tin, use brush. If disc like the above is hand grib, and you more variety is sized on line and stroke. Good for my painterly or looser (expressive strokes). Both Tin and Disc demo are available on youtube. Ideal to check the demo video out before commiting a purchase? **Q: Are they permanent after they dry on paper?** A: No, must be sealed **Q: Is there any advantage to using this over white gouache?** A: It’s less opaque **Q: Love the water soluble graphite that comes in a tin. Does this come with some kind of case?** A: I can't remember about the singletons. The three-pack comes with a sturdy cork base, with a flexible plastic slider that fits over it. If one doesn't go into artistic frenzies when one works, I think it can hold up. I bought two stand-alones to supplement the three-pack, so I have a blue, a yellow, a teal-green, an orangey-red, and a burgundy so that I have a somewhat-complete palette. These chalks are slender enough in depth that I put the two stand-alones (once dry) each on top of one of the others in the cork tray, and the slider fits over the whole sheebang. IIRC, the standalones came wrapped in a peel-off film. I'm mostly a watercolorist, bought these to satisfy my curiosity, don't use them a lot. Hth.
