The case is a soft rubbery material which will provide excellent protection. The keyboard although detachable, can easily fold back allowing the iPad to be used normally. The keyboard is what really makes this special. The keys are precise and a joy to use. It has an energy saving device which switches off if not used for a few minutes but switches back on when any key is depressed. The backlit function is invaluable when using in low light levels and allows the user to choose their preferred colour and light level. Another important feature is space to store an Apply Pencil. As these are expensive, it pays to protect them and where better to keep them than with the iPad. Although not the cheapest option I believe it’s the best. For anyone wanting an integrated pencil holder and quality keyboard, you really can’t go wrong with this product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent keyboard, consistent connection via Bluetooth, lovely typing "feel" *by F***C on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 January 2020* This is an excellent keyboard, and is very much recommended. I have a few other keyboards for my iPad 2018, acquired over the years, but this has a much more positive feel while typing than any of my other ones, and (so far) doesn't slow down on typing. The case is not as flexible in terms of standing while reading or typing as some other cases - I like to work in portrait while reading articles or e-books, and I can't see a way to achieve this (some other cases use Origami folds for this), so I use it in conjunction with "The Plinth" folding stand, and I have the best of all worlds.Some reviews have pointed out that it adds a lot of weight to the iPad. I was actually pleasantly surprised by this. Some of my other keyboard cases add significantly more (the case that "turns your iPad into a laptop" added 650 grams), but this case adds only 509 grams to the overall weight, which for me just makes it feel "reassuringly substantial" rather than "heavy".
