If your after a boomy bass system, then I'd say this might not be the one, but if your looking for a hi-fi for a kitchen or bedroom, where you don't want to blast it, then this would be perfect in my opinion. I have adapted my original speakers (videos are on you tube how to do this) to fit this stereo as the speakers that come with it are a bit tinny but what can you expect. You just need to get a couple of 3.5m jack plugs and wire up speakers. There is a manual and is quite good except for how to work the clock and alarm. I have set the clock by trial and error and did manage to set the alarm. I think you have to hold the speaker button for quite a while, like maybe a minute and then it seems to work. Not really bothered though about the alarm, l just like to know how everything works. As in can I unplug the original speakers and connect a different cable for roof speakers at back of unit?** A: I would be wary of plugging different speakers into the jack sockets. I don't use the supplied speakers. I use Pc speakers which have a separate sub woofer, I have plugged these into the headphone socket. Easily connects with computers and mobiles via bluetooth. Does not have any equalizer so the music output quality is more telephone than stereo.
