This is refurbished or something. BUT NO - my husband, who is a machinist, looked at it and pointed out the top side of the blade is not the finished side. The scuffs on the top side are normal marks from machining the blade. The underside was shiny, unmarred, and SHARP. SO. SHARP. I am very happy with this product - it is just what I needed.
