Singapore math is the best for a reason. It teaches math in several different ways so that all kids can understand it. My son is engaged and is learning so much more than how math is taught in his school. This book is giving him the added edge we were looking for. Most of all the activities are fun so my son is not bored by doing math. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good learning material. *by G***P on October 10, 2024* Bought this for my daughter who is in Kindergarten. She's been enjoying doing math worksheets and thought she might give this a try. It's all black and white color. Pictures are not colored but for me it's okay. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The book is great but Singapore is not so great *by B***S on September 7, 2012* This book (1A) says Grade 2, but they are using this exact book as a workbook in my son's 1st grade class. It's nice to have an extra copy at home for extra review before a test.My first impression of Singapore Math itself is that it looks like gibberish. It seems overly complicated, and doesn't really match up to how you think about math in your mind. Completely unnatural.For example, in first grade I don't see the point of the using the weird network diagrams to show "number bonds." 2+2 = 4, you don't need a diagram to add 2+2. And who thinks about 2+2 as a diagram in their mind? Nobody. Thier first math test at school got postponed because either the kids don't get it, or the teachers don't get it.In 2nd grade they show things like: _____tens + _____ ones = 83. So you write 8tens + 3ones = 83. (Problem is, 8+3 does not = 83. Then the kids get confused when you try to tell them to use 0 as a placeholder to write 80 +3 = 83, when you just told them 8+3 = 83.)But I have no choice in that, the school has already chosen to use it. This book is good for extra practice. I just personally wouldn't chose Singapore if I were homeschooling.
