This is the 3rd camera system from Defender we have purchased and have been pleased with all of them. This system replaced an older version we have. Easy set up wizard, crystal clear picture, even night vision. We also like the spotlight on the cameras that Sentinel systems have. The only negative thing I would say is we like the 4K app better than the Empower app, but it works well and will get used to it over time. Still have some trenches to dig for a few cameras further out on the property, and fine tune a couple settings on interior cameras, but pleased with the cameras we have already placed! Lots of storage, and great value for the price!

Good quality cameras. Poor app support poor tech support You can only record and get notifications for the same option so if you went to record all motion you have to get notifications for all motion if you want to record just people you only get notifications for just people You cannot get notifications for when it detects people and record all motion for some reason so when you have a delivery driver drive onto your yard your camera will not catch it unless you have it set to record all motion but then you're also getting a notification every time a car drives by every time the cat walks through your yard And as far as the tech support they have a thing called "live chat" it's definitely not live you click on it you fill out your little thing and then you get an email two days later responding to this you respond back to that email and now it's been 3 days and no response so 5 days now and not a single information on whether or not it's possible for an update to change this later to allow us to record all motion and then only get notifications for a human detection If you're going to get a security system highly recommend hanging One camera and running the cord out the window and seeing how it functions for about a week and messing around with the features before running your cords everywhere

Absolutely NO SUPPORT from Defender. I paid to have cameras installed then could never get cameras working. Amazon didn’t have a contact number for them. Finally I found one, contacted them… back and forth for three weeks with NO RESOLUTION to get cameras working!!! Refunded from Amazon. I would not want anyone else to have the same experience as I did with this horrible company. Think twice before you purchase this security cameras system!!

Pretty solid system, got this replacement for the old Defender Sentinel NS2T16NVR (SN: DFNS1230730090). I have been installed and run this for around 2 months, easy to replace the old one without removing the eternet wire. Angle is wider as expected.

This is a pretty small security camera setup. It only comes with two cameras that are wire depending. I would say this is more so for smaller homes due to the total number of cameras. You are able to add additional cameras if you want as this goes up to 8 channels. The cameras are POE so you can power them via wire. You will also need to run a wire the DVR. The DVR does have PoE ports so you do not have to buy an injector or anything like that which is nice. I did open the drive bay and it does come with a 1 TB hard drive which is a bit small considering the resolution you are recording at. It utilizes a normal toshiba hard drive. I did not see anything that indicates it is for networking. In the DVR, you can store your videos or photos long term which is great if you want to back up yourself. You do not have to worry about cloud storage and can just access the footage from your DVR. The two cameras are okay to setup. Although this device does not require an internet connection to store footage. It does require internet to do things like view the footage on your phone and such. For the most part, it is pretty easy to access footage and control your DVR. The downside with wires is that if there is a power outage you lose access to the DVR and cameras as there is no battery power. You can utilizes the cameras with your phone via the application and for the most part the quality is great on the phone or tablet. Depending on the quality of your recording and settings, your hard drive can fill up quickly especially if you are filming at high resolution which is why I recommend upgrading. Once the drive is full though, it does will overwrite older footage. If you want to purge the full drive it does take a bit of time to erase it all. The camera works but the footage is not as good as I thought it would be compared to the picture. It does have motion sensor to save on memory space. It is easy to install the cameras for the most part but I had pre-existing holes drilled for the wire. It does have a good range but the picture quality I feel is not as advertised. It still gave me a good clear view during the day and has automatic night vision during the night. Avoid having the cameras so close to glass or pointing at glass as the night vision would just see a bright spot reflection. The cameras are all weather proof so it can take rain and such. I tried a water test and the water did not hinder the camera too much in front of the lens which is nice if you happen to have this out in the open. One thing I will say is to be careful when leaving this in direct sunlight as the casing will most likely go yellow overtime being left in direct sunlight. There is no real way to prevent this other than keep it under a shade. Overall I think this is a good recommended kit for smaller home security setup. It does not rely on cloud storage for the footage. The drive is a bit small and the camera could be better. The picture is not as clear and crisp as shown even at the higher setting. The motion detection is good and the DVR actually has PoE power so you can power your cameras with it. The only down side is that you have to run these wires out to the camera but it is only one cable per camera. It does come with all the screws you need for installation. The cameras are not too heavy.

I installed it yesterday and I really like it. Clear at night and easy to install and set up. I passed all my wire in the attic, that was the hardest part of the job.

Clear picture. Edit: Bought in December. By February one camera went down. No obvious reason. Edit.2.0 Have repeatedly sent the laundry list of photos and proof of purchase. A total pain in the you know what. Edit 2.0 they make you jump through so many hoops if one of your cameras breaks down I can't recommend.

This system kicks butt. My shop is secured inside and out. I own a window tint shop and now my clients cars are recorded from all angles when inside my shop so people cant make fake damage claims anymore, and the entire property is recorded outside. Was very easy to set up and program to give after hours alerts to my phone.
