It had stiff mechanisms for opening and closing, if it had been sharper I would be bleeding, as it snapped shut, and I nipped my finger tip trying to close it. But didn't drawn any blood or even pierce a lay of skin because it's really not that sharp.I thought that it would loosen up nicely over time and repeated use, but even after having it in my possession one night it's just got stiffer like it's too tight for the blade to be pulled out. I'm not sure it will last very long as eventually I won't be able to open it. The video I uploaded won't show this, as I did the video when I first got it out the box, not after opening and closing it several times.Anyway, back to the sharpness. Because of the sharpness, or therefore lack of, I imagine it'd be good for mushroom picking (just not the really tough woody mushrooms), or as a letter opening or piercing through seletope as the sharpness of the edge is similar to that of a one of the blades of some scissors... you can rest your thumb on the edge or tap the edge without fear of injury. See the awkwardly filmed video. But I'm going to sharpen it if I can and than hopefully it'll serve it's purpose of being able to cut through small twigs and such.I like the small size, the handle is smooth and it's very light. I have it resting on my thigh right now as I type and I can't even feel it, it's that light in weight.Not as dark coloured as the rosewood I'm used to seeing and I had hoped it would be dark rosewood like the picture but it looks more like teak wood. There's an odd dotted like pattern on it too... which makes it look printed...? I've added pictures so people can judge that for themselves; I'm not an expert in wood and materials.I'd bought it so I can cut up herbs and twigs for altar works, so can't compare it to other pruning knives as I don't have much gardening experience.Overall a bit disappointed. I wouldn't really say it's worth £9 if it isn't going to last me a week. I dunno, we'll see how long it will be before it completely breaks.The poor stars rating pretty much just because of the fact that it's so stiff to open and getting worse. ### ⭐⭐ Tinny *by G***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 August 2016* Even for the money they could have done better. Small but I expected that. The blade seems to be made from a piece of tin can.
